OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha Supernovas, the premier professional volleyball franchise, have signed outside hitter Sarah Wilhite Parsons, the 2016 National Player of the Year and established U.S. Women’s National Team member, as they continue to build their 2026 roster.

Sarah Wilhite Parsons brings a wealth of international and professional experience to Omaha. An alternate on the U.S. Olympic roster at the Tokyo 2020 Games, she has starred in top leagues across Italy, Turkey, Brazil, Japan, and Germany. Her résumé includes multiple domestic championships and ten international medals with Team USA.
“I’m thrilled to join the Supernovas and help grow the sport that has shaped my life,” Parsons said. “Playing professionally in the United States with my 7-month-old son cheering from the stands is a dream come true. There’s no better place to start this new chapter than here in Nebraska with NovasNation!”
A standout at the University of Minnesota, Parsons exploded onto the national scene in 2016. She earned AVCA and ESPNW National Player of the Year honors after averaging 4.26 kills and 2.60 digs per set, and she contributed 29 aces and 62 blocks. That season she also claimed Big Ten Player of the Year, was a unanimous All-Big Ten selection, and made the NCAA Final Four All-Tournament Team.
Since 2017, Parsons has amassed ten medals with the U.S. Women’s National Team, including gold at the Volleyball Nations League in 2018, 2019, and 2021, as well as championships at the NORCECA Champions Cup and the Pan American Cup. Six of those victories came under head coach Luka Slabe, who joins her now in Omaha.
Her professional journey includes:
- Italy’s Serie A1 with UYBA Volley Busto Arsizio (third in the Italian Cup, 2017)
- Bundesliga champion with Allianz MTV Stuttgart and German Cup runner-up (2018)
- Top-three finishes in both the Brazilian Cup and Paulista Championship with Sesi Vôlei Bauru (2019)
- Stints with Nilüfer Belediyespor (Turkey) and NEC Red Rockets (Japan), where she won the 2022 Japan SV.League and Empress’ Cup
- The 2023 season at Kuzeyboru (Turkey)
Parsons and her husband Jameson welcomed their first child, Ezra, in January. Her signing is the Supernovas’ 12th addition during the Major League Volleyball free agency period. Fans can track every roster move on the Supernovas Free Agent Tracker.
