TONIGHT’S GAME: The Anaheim Ducks open a four-game road trip tonight against the New York Islanders at UBS Arena (4:30 p.m. PT, TV: Bally Sports SoCal, AUDIO: Ducks Stream). The Ducks have won all four games in the Eastern Time Zone this season at CBJ (3-2, OT), BOS (4-3, OT), PHI (7-4) and PIT (4-3) in addition to six straight wins in the Eastern Time Zone dating to last season (also Feb. 25, 2023 @ CAR and Feb. 23, 2023 @ WSH). The Ducks continue their 13-game December schedule (1-3-0), which includes seven home and six road contests. Following tonight’s game, the Ducks continue the road trip Friday, Dec. 15 at the New York Rangers (4 p.m. PT). The road trip also includes visits to the New Jersey Devils (Sunday, Dec. 17, 4 p.m. PT) and Detroit Red Wings (Monday, Dec. 18, 4 p.m. PT).

CARDIAC COMEBACKS: The Ducks lead the NHL with four two-goal comeback wins this season. Anaheim’s made NHL history with a 3-2 win Nov. 14 @ NSH, becoming the first team in NHL history to record six third-period comeback wins through 15 games in a season. Anaheim trailed Nashville 2-0 in the second period, scoring three unanswered goals. Anaheim leads the NHL with six third-period comeback wins this season. Five of Anaheim’s six comeback victories came during the club’s six-game win streak Oct. 24-Nov. 5. The Ducks were the third club in NHL history to post at least five third-period comeback victories throughout a win streak of any length, joining the 2018-19 Sabres (6 in 10 GP) and 2013-14 Penguins (5 in 15 GP). The Ducks are also one of two teams this season (also Toronto) to record multiple two-goal, third period comeback wins.

DUCKS-ISLANDERS: Anaheim and the New York Islanders open a two-game season series tonight at UBS Arena. The Ducks have won three of their last five games vs. the Islanders in New York (3-2-0) and earned points in eight of their last 15 meetings overall (6-7- 2). During the 2022-23 season series, the Islanders earned a 7-1 win (Oct. 15) and a 6-3 win (Mar. 15). The Ducks own a 17-17-8 alltime record vs. the Islanders, including a 8-10-2 mark in New York. Adam Henrique (9-9=18 in 19 GP) co-leads active Ducks skaters in scoring with Cam Fowler (5-13=18 in 21 GP) vs. the Islanders, while Henrique leads in goals and Fowler leads in assists. The two teams next meet Mar. 10 to close out the season series at Honda Center (5 p.m.).

TONIGHT’S MATCHUP

Tonight, the New York Islanders host the Anaheim Ducks in the first of two meetings between the two clubs this season. The last time these teams met was Mar. 15, 2023, when five Islanders recorded multi-point games, including Brock Nelson, who scored twice in a 6-3 Islander win. They will look to earn their fifth straight win against the Ducks tonight, and are 5-0-2 in their last seven home games against Anaheim. The Islanders enter tonight’s matchup with a 5-0-1 record in their last six games, and have captured wins in their last three straight home contests for the first time this season. Tonight’s game is the Islanders’ fifth of their season-long six-game home stand, in which they are 3-0-1.They can earn points in their seventh straight home game tonight (5-0-2 at home since Nov. 22). The Islanders also enter tonight’s matchup with a 7-1-2 record in their last ten games, the best in the NHL in that span.
