Blackshear, a 6-foot-6, 215-pound guard, will have three seasons of eligibility remaining, and will be immediately available to play for Nevada ahead of the 2021-22 campaign.

Over two seasons at FAU, Blackshear appeared in 53 games, with 30 starts, averaging 5.9 points and 3.4 rebounds while shooting 41.2 percent from the floor. FAU finished the season 13-9 (7-5 C-USA) and reached the quarterfinals of the C-USA Tournament.

“We’re excited to add Kenan to our program. He is a big guard, skilled, tough, and brings a lot of versatility,” Alford said. “Kenan is from a basketball family and we are looking forward to his bright future.”

Basketball runs throughout Blackshear’s immediate family, as each of his parents, and his older brother, played collegiately. Both of his parents played at Stetson, and are members of the school’s Athletics Hall of Fame, each being inducted in 2002. Blackshear’s father, Kerry, graduated as the program’s all-time leading scorer (1,826 points) and was the 1994-95 Atlantic Sun Player of the Year, while his mother, Lamilia (née Lamilia Ford), scored 1,285 points over her career (1992-96) with the Hatters and was a two-time all-conference selection.

His older brother, Kerry Jr., spent four seasons (2015-19) at Virginia Tech before playing his final season at Florida (2019-20). Following the end of his collegiate career, Kerry Jr. spent the 2020-21 professional season with Hapoel Golboa Galil of the Israeli Premier League.

Blackshear will join a Nevada program that is coming off a 16-10 (10-7 MW) campaign and reached the semifinals of the Mountain West Tournament in 2020-21.

Indians Owner Paul Dolan’s statement following conclusion of Mickey Callaway investigation

0

CLEVELAND, OH – Indians Owner Paul Dolan made the following statement relative to the conclusion of Major League Baseball’s sexual harassment investigation on former pitching coach Mickey Callaway.

“We want to thank Commissioner Manfred and Major League Baseball for their diligent work on the matter involving Mickey Callaway, and we especially want to thank all of the people within the organization and across the industry who spoke with investigators and shared their experiences. As the Commissioner noted, sexual harassment has no place in any organization.

In an effort to understand and learn from this experience, the Commissioner’s Office shared with us forward-looking recommendations based on insights they gleaned from the time Mickey Callaway was a member of our organization. While we were not provided with details of the report or of individual experiences or accounts, there was no finding against the Cleveland Indians related to the Callaway matter. At the same time, the information the Commissioner’s Office shared reinforces our own conclusion that we did not do enough as an organization to create an environment where people felt comfortable reporting the inappropriate conduct they experienced or witnessed.

We have contracted with an external expert with extensive experience related to workplace culture and reporting practices to help strengthen the organization. We are dedicated to ensuring this work remains an ongoing organizational priority and look forward to working with them on best practices for education, training and reporting to accelerate our progress in these areas.”

Commissioner Robert D. Manfred, Jr. announced today that Mickey Callaway has been placed on the Ineligible List following the completion of Major League Baseball’s investigation.

Commissioner Manfred issued the following statement regarding the discipline: “My office has completed its investigation into allegations of sexual harassment by Mickey Callaway. Having reviewed all of the available evidence, I have concluded that Mr. Callaway violated MLB’s policies, and that placement on the Ineligible List is warranted. We want to thank the many people who cooperated with our Department of Investigations (DOI) in their work, which spanned Mr. Callaway’s positions with three different Clubs. The Clubs that employed Mr. Callaway each fully cooperated with DOI, including providing emails and assisting with identifying key witnesses. Harassment has no place within Major League Baseball, and we are committed to providing an appropriate work environment for all those involved in our game.”

Placement on the Ineligible List is immediate and will continue until, at minimum, the end of the 2022 Championship Season, when Mr. Callaway will be eligible to apply for potential reinstatement.
