GOLDEN KNIGHTS LAST GAME RECAP
March 28 – Vegas Golden Knights 4, Edmonton Oilers 7
The Vegas Golden Knights (46-22-6) lost to the Edmonton Oilers (43-23-9), 7-4, on Tuesday night at T-Mobile Arena. Jonathan Marchessault opened the scoring for Vegas just one minute into the first period. Less than a minute later, Evan Bouchard tied the game 1-1. Halfway through the first, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins put the Oilers ahead, 2-1. William Karlsson then tied the game 2-2 with a shorthanded goal. Less than a minute later, Leon Draisaitl put Edmonton back ahead, 3-2. Early in the second period, Michael Amadio tied the game, 3-3 for Vegas before the Oilers potted three straight to enter the second intermission. In the final frame, Brett Kulak added one more to Edmonton’s total before Marchessault scored his second of the night to bring the final score to 7-4.

LAST GAME BY THE NUMBERS

  • Marchessault holds on to a three-game goal streak for the second time in nine games
  • Amadio adds to his career-high season with his 13th goal of the year
  • Karlsson’s short-handed goal is his 11th with Vegas, one shy of the franchise record held by Reilly Smith

Seeking a Century
Vegas needs two more points to reach 100 for the second time in franchise history. With a win over San Jose, the Golden Knights could hit 100 points one game short of the 2017-18 team.

Marchy Madness
Jonathan Marchessault has been hot for the month of March with 16 points (9-7—16) in 14 games. Marchessault leads the Golden Knights in goals this month (9) with the help from two three-game goal streaks in his last nine games (current Mar. 23rd to 28th, prev. Mar. 11th to 14th). Marchessault’s multi-goal game is his 20th as a Golden Knight, the most in franchise history. Marchessault’s hot March places him third on the team in points this season (26-28—54) and second in goals with just one behind Jack Eichel.

Road Trip Warriors
Vegas’ win in Edmonton on Saturday was the club’s 24th road win this season, setting a new franchise record. The Golden Knights rank third in the NHL in points (53) and points percentage (.736) when playing on the road (behind New Jersey and Boston). Vegas has won seven straight games as the visitor, matching the club record set last season (seven straight road wins, 12/3/21 to 1/24/22)

Second Half Success
Vegas’ remains a top team in the NHL standings in points percentage and in total points since the All-Star Break. In 23 games, the Golden Knights boast a 17-4-2 record, and have earned 36 out of the 46 possible points during the stretch. Their 6-1-2 February was just the third month in team history with only one regulation loss (also Jan. 2021, 5-1-1, and Dec. 2017, 11-1-1), and their 11-3-0 March has them on pace to record the club’s best March ever (currently 12-5-0, 2021).

Against the Sharks
Thursday’s meeting in San Jose marks the fourth and final game this season against San Jose. The Golden Knights hold an all-time record of 20-2-4 in 26 meetings with San Jose, their best record against any opponent aside from Seattle (5-1-0). The last time these teams met on Feb. 16, William Carrier scored the deciding goal with 17.2 seconds to go to defeat San Jose at T-Mobile Arena. After a scoreless first period, San Jose snagged a 1-0 lead on a goal from Alexander Barabanov. Paul Cotter broke free in the third period and got the Golden Knights on the board to make it a 1-1 hockey game. In the final minute, Chandler Stephenson set up Carrier for the game-winning goal.

• A win or overtime loss tonight would give Seattle points in five consecutive games against Anaheim. The Kraken own a 3-2-1 all-time record against the Ducks.

• A win tonight would also give Seattle its 10th series win of the season, having previously won its season series against Buffalo, Colorado, Columbus, Detroit, Nashville, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, San Jose and St. Louis. The Kraken have one game remaining to play against Los Angeles, but they will record a series win regardless of the outcome after going 3-0-0 against the Kings in their first three meetings of the season. The Kraken have three season series that still could be won: Arizona, Chicago and Vegas.

• Since the start of the 2022-23 season, the Kraken are averaging 3.83 goals-per-game against Anaheim, which is tied with Nashville for their fifth-best mark against any opponent.

• Seattle has an 11-8-2 record against Pacific Division opponents this season and have beaten each of their division rivals at least
once.

Seattle has scored 254 goals in 73 games this season compared to 213 goals in 2021-22. The team’s 254 goals this season was tied for sixth in the NHL entering play Wednesday.

• Jordan Eberle’s goal in the Kraken’s game on March 3 at Columbus was his 50th point of the season. It is the sixth time in his career and first time since 2017-18 that Eberle has recorded 50 or more points in a season.
