0

After earning six points in its first two games of the season, Inter Miami FC became the third team in MLS history to lose four straight games. After starting the season with two wins in a row, the only team to lose five games in a row, including one in a breakaway shootout, was the Chicago Fire in 1998.

Through six matches, FC Dallas began the season with two victories, two draws, and two defeats. Dallas has won five of its last 15 MLS matches since late August 2022, which includes the playoffs from the previous season. However, Dallas has also lost five of those matches.

Josef Martinez has started all five of Inter Miami FC’s matches but has not scored. This is the first time in his career that he has gone five MLS starts without scoring. Martinez has scored at least one goal in each of his three career games against FC Dallas.

In Saturday’s 1-1 draw against the Portland Timbers, FC Dallas gave up an equalizer in the first minute of overtime. FC Dallas has lost 12 matches in a row without keeping a clean sheet, the longest streak in MLS history.

NBA Preview: Denver Nuggets (52-27) at Phoenix Suns (44-35)

0

The Denver Nuggets will try to secure the No. 1 seed against the host Phoenix Suns, who have suddenly emerged as the NBA’s hottest team, will be the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference on Thursday night.

When the teams finish their four-game season series, the Suns will try to extend their winning streak to seven games and stop the Nuggets from winning the championship.

The Phoenix Suns (44-35) are getting closer to securing the No. Because they have won four games by double digits, including two by 20 or more, they are a 4 seed in the West.

Phoenix has gotten comfortable with its with Kevin Durant at long last a steady individual from the beginning setup. Since Durant returned from his ankle injury, the Suns have won four of their last five games, going 7-0 when he played.

Durant scored 18 focuses in Tuesday’s 115-94 triumph over the meeting San Antonio Spurs in the wake of scoring 35 and 30 focuses over the past two games. Since Phoenix acquired him from Brooklyn Nets, he has averaged 25.6 points and shot 58.2% from the field.

Only Durant led the team in scoring against the Spurs. Chris Paul (22 points), Devin Booker (27 points), and Deandre Ayton (19 points) led the way.

Paul scored 20 points for the first time since Jan. 28 when he scored 31 points against the Spurs, when he shot 9 of 14 from the field, including 4 of 6 from three-point range.

Torrey Craig, the reserve, added 15 points and 10 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season, connecting on 7 of 9 shots.

The Nuggets have won two of their previous three games against the Suns this season, but on March 31, they lost 100-93 in Phoenix.

Due to a calf injury, Denver star Nikola Jokic missed three games in a row, including that one.

Jokic got back to activity on Tuesday, yet the meeting Pieces were beat 124-103 by the modest Houston Rockets. In 25 minutes, Jokic scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

As well as assuming the disheartening misfortune, Denver likewise lost champion watchman Jamal Murray to a hyper-extended right thumb. Murray could be out for the remainder of the regular season. Similar to Jokic, who was placed back on the injury report due to his calf, he is listed as questionable for Thursday.

The Nuggets (52-27), who have a record of 6-8 over the past four weeks, haven’t played like a dominant team recently. After Houston’s defeat, coach Michael Malone was disturbed.

Jokic, who is vying for the NBA MVP title for the third time, was one of the culprits, turning the ball over eight times.

After taking a three-point lead at the half, the Nuggets were outscored 68-44 in the second half.

NBA Preview: Oklahoma City Thunder (38-42) at Utah Jazz (36-43)

0

Although it isn’t a playoff game, the Salt Lake City matchup between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Utah Jazz may feel like one to these two young teams.

Both the visiting Thunder (38-42) and the struggling Jazz (36-43), both of whom are currently reeling, are still in the running for a spot in the play-in tournament. despite the fact that both teams are coming into this matchup having lost three consecutive games.

With victories in its final two games—at Utah and against Memphis on Sunday—Oklahoma City has the upper hand and has the potential to secure a postseason berth.

Utah, which has lost seven of eight, has a difficult move with three games remaining. The Jazz must not only catch up to Oklahoma City, but Dallas also has the head-to-head tiebreaker and was just ahead of them going into Wednesday’s game.

Regardless, when looking at the big picture, both teams are pleased to be in this position.

The Thunder, like the Jazz, remain competitive even when they lose. They played well in recent defeats to Phoenix and Indiana and led for the majority of the game against the Warriors.

In the game against the Warriors, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander continued to shine, scoring 32 points, and rookie guard Jalen Williams added 19 points.

The Jazz appeared to be down and out at home against LeBron James and Co. late in Tuesday’s down. The Jazz stormed back to force overtime despite trailing the Lakers by 10 points with 1:43 remaining, but ultimately lost 135-133.

Keep in mind that Utah did not have three starters who were out with injuries: Lauri Markkanen (hand), Jordan Clarkson (hand), and Walker Kessler (concussion). Additionally, Collin Sexton’s return from a hamstring injury only allowed him to play more than 15 minutes. Sexton is said to be out for the game on Thursday.

With their next-man-up attitude, the Jazz depended on 23 focuses each from Kelly Olynyk (seven bounce back, seven helps) and Talen Horton-Exhaust (seven helps) alongside 22 focuses from Ochai Agbaji. Even without their best players, the Jazz had 29 assists and seven players reached double figures.

This season, the Thunder have prevailed in two of the three meetings with Utah.

NBA Preview: Portland Trail Blazers (33-46) at San Antonio Spurs (20-59)

0

Approaching finish of frustrating seasons, Spurs, Blazers meet in Austin

The San Antonio Spurs and Portland Trail Blazers will draw nearer to the furthest limit of forgettable missions when they get down to business with only pride on the line on Thursday in the very first NBA game at Irritable Center in Austin, Texas.

The Spurs conclude their season-long run of “home” games with this, the first of two in Austin. The Timberwolves still have a chance of making the playoffs, so the second game, on Saturday afternoon against Minnesota, will have some impact on the postseason picture.

The Spurs (20-59) and Trail Blazers (33-46) cannot achieve that goal. San Antonio, which is ensured to wind up with one of the three most horrendously awful keeps in the association, has for quite some time been killed from postseason thought. The Trail Blazers had already formally suspended star guard Damian Lillard for the season, ending Portland’s chances last week.

There are still three games for both teams.

The Spurs head to their usual hangout spot after a 115-94 misfortune in Phoenix on Tuesday.

San Antonio, playing without harmed starters Keldon Johnson (right foot sprain), Zach Collins (cut finger), Devin Vassell (left knee injury the executives) and Jeremy Sochan (right knee irritation), followed by 31 halfway through the subsequent quarter yet retaliated to inside nine two times in the third prior to hitting a dead end.

The Spurs were led by Malaki Branham with 21 points, Jones had 20, Keita Bates-Diop, Sandro Mamukelashvili had 13, and Julian Champagnie had 10. In its last 11 games, San Antonio has lost nine of them.

Dominick Barlow (unknown), Devonte’ Graham (adductor), and Doug McDermott (ankle) all left Tuesday’s game with injuries. Against Portland, McDermott and Graham have been ruled out.

The Trail Blazers travel to Austin after a 119-109 misfortune in Memphis on Tuesday. In addition to Lillard, Portland was without the injured starters Jerami Grant (quadriceps), Jusuf Nurkic (knee), and Anfernee Simons (foot).

The Trail Blazers were led by Skylar Mays, who scored 24 points in his third game with the team after signing a 10-day contract last week. Jabari Walker scored 16, Shaedon Sharpe scored 20 points, Shaquille Harrison scored 13, and John Butler Jr. scored 10.

In the first quarter, Portland fell behind by 19 points, but it rallied and led by five points with nine minutes left. With a 22-2 run at that point, Memphis took control for good.

Six of their last seven games have ended in defeat for the Trail Blazers.

Sharpe is listed as questionable for his left knee. In seven of the last eight games, he has scored at least 20 points.

This season, Portland has won each of its previous three games against the Spurs.

NBA Preview: Miami Heat (42-37) at Philadelphia Sixers (52-27)

0

The Miami Heat are currently engaged in a contest for a guaranteed playoff spot after finishing the regular season just one victory away from reaching the NBA Finals.

The Heat would have to play at least one game in the play-in tournament to qualify for the official first round of the postseason if they were in seventh place in the Eastern Conference, which they are currently in.

However, Miami has opportunity and willpower to avoid the play-in, and it could help its possibilities doing as such on Thursday night when it conflicts with the host Philadelphia 76ers.

The Heat (42-37) were one game behind the Nets on Wednesday, who held the tiebreaker against Miami thanks to their three-game sweep of the season series. As a result, the Heat cannot just match Brooklyn’s record; rather, they must surpass it, making Thursday’s game essentially a must-win for them to avoid the play-in.

Things were looking depressing for Miami when it lost three straight games to close the period of Spring, however the Intensity have gotten consecutive triumphs from that point forward, including Tuesday’s 118-105 street win against the Detroit Cylinders.

After scoring 18 of his 27 points in the fourth quarter to seal the victory, Jimmy Butler put on some late-game fireworks.

Butler will be content regardless of where Miami finishes in the standings, despite the fact that he is aware of the significance of the remaining three games of the season.

Philadelphia (52-27), like the Heat, is still hopeful of making the playoffs after beating the Celtics 103-101 on Tuesday to get within two games of Boston for the No. 1 seed. 2 seed in the East.

On 20 of 25, Joel Embiid scored 52 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, marking his fifth game in his career with at least 50 points.

With 53.3 seconds remaining, Philadelphia held a six-point advantage, but the Celtics came within two with two seconds remaining. The Sixers survived the scare because Jayson Tatum missed a two-point attempt at the buzzer, but Rivers said that his team needs to clean up in the final week of the regular season.

Embiid may find it more difficult to get going against a Miami team that has been able to contain him recently. Embiid has scored more than 25 points just once in his last six games against the Heat, four of which were in the postseason. He has averaged 21.3 points in those games.

Since the teams split two games earlier this season, Thursday’s meeting will decide who will win the season series.

NBA Preview: Cleveland Cavaliers (50-30) at Orlando Magic (34-45)

0

The Cleveland Cavaliers search for a consecutive range on Thursday, playing the second of sequential street challenges at Orlando.

With 43 points, Donovan Mitchell led Cleveland (50-30) to a 117-113 victory in Orlando on Tuesday. It was Mitchell’s 13th game in a row with 40 or more points.

Mitchell scored 12 points in the final 7:11, and Caris LeVert, who came off the bench to score 19 points, made a crucial three-pointer midway through the fourth period to halt a 10-0 Magic run.

Cleveland’s first 50-win regular season since 2017-18 was secured by the outcome.

Mitchell’s expansion was vital to the structure undertaking, and he has conveyed with a vocation best normal of 28.3 focuses per game heading into the last two rounds of the ordinary season. Darius Garland, an All-Star a year ago, is currently averaging 21.6 points per game, which is close to his 2021-22 scoring output.

Evan Mobley, a second-year big man, also saw increases of 15 to 16.3 points and 8.3 to 9.1 rebounds per game.

Cleveland has a chance to achieve its best regular-season record since 2015-16 if it wins its final two games.

Defeating Orlando for the second time in a row may be difficult; In the game on Tuesday, the Magic (34-45) gave the Cavaliers everything they could handle. There were 11 lead changes and neither team led by more than nine points.

Cleveland was able to hold off Orlando down the stretch, but Orlando was able to take a lead in the fourth quarter thanks to its 10-0 run.

The Magic’s only defeat in their last seven games came on Tuesday. The young Orlando team is out of the play-in, but coach Jamahl Mosley said that the Magic won’t let them down in their next three games.

Cleveland has established itself as the No. 4 seed in the playoffs and first-round home court advantage

Regarding Orlando, Paolo Banchero’s final nomination for Rookie of the Year is part of the Magic’s effort to finish the season strongly.

On Tuesday, Banchero posted a 20-point, 10-rebound double-double. He is currently averaging 20.0 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game. Cole Anthony scored 15 points for Orlando off the bench. Prior to Thursday’s matchup, he had scored in double figures in 12 consecutive games.
