Blackburn, 32, appeared in 15 games (four starts) between the Mets and Yankees in 2025, going 0–3 with one save and a 6.23 ERA (39.0 IP, 47 H, 29 R/27 ER, 12 BB, 34 K, 6 HR). He opened the season with the Mets before being designated for assignment on August 16 and released on August 19. The Yankees signed him to a Major League deal on August 21, and he went on to post a 5.28 ERA (15.1 IP, 16 H, 10 R/9 ER, 4 BB, 16 K, 3 HR) across eight relief outings for New York. Over his final seven regular‑season appearances, he recorded a 1.50 ERA (12.0 IP, 2 ER). Blackburn was also included on the Yankees’ 2025 American League Wild Card Series and AL Division Series rosters.

Across nine Major League seasons with the Oakland Athletics (2017–24), New York Mets (2024–25) and Yankees (2025), Blackburn has compiled a 22–31 record with one save and a 4.97 ERA (467.1 IP, 517 H, 269 R/258 ER, 144 BB, 363 K, 62 HR) in 101 career games (86 starts). He was selected as an American League All‑Star with Oakland in 2022.

A native of Antioch, Calif., Blackburn was originally chosen by the Chicago Cubs in the supplemental first round (56th overall) of the 2012 First‑Year Player Draft. He was traded to the Seattle Mariners along with INF Daniel Vogelbach in exchange for LHP Mike Montgomery and RHP Jordan Pries on July 20, 2016, then acquired by the Oakland Athletics from Seattle in exchange for INF Danny Valencia on November 12, 2016. Blackburn was later traded to the New York Mets from Oakland in exchange for RHP Kade Morris on July 30, 2024.
