New York Mets sign RHP Dylan Covey

Flushing, New York – The New York Mets have announced the signing of RHP Dylan Covey to a one-year major league contract. The 33-year-old spent the 2024 season with the Philadelphia Phillies organization, appearing at three minor league levels while recovering from a right shoulder strain. Covey posted a 0-2 record with a 2.66 ERA, nine walks, and 19 strikeouts over 20.1 innings in 18 appearances.  

Hailing from Glendale, CA, Covey has played in 100 major league games across five seasons with the White Sox, Red Sox, Dodgers, and Phillies. His last major league action was in 2023, where he split time between the Dodgers and Phillies, recording a 1-3 record with a 3.77 ERA in 29 games (one start).  

In his career as a reliever, Covey has a 2-5 record with a 4.33 ERA in 54 appearances. Overall, he holds a 7-32 record with a 6.18 ERA in 307.1 innings. He also pitched for Rakuten in the Chinese Professional Baseball League from 2021-22, making 33 starts and compiling a 16-10 record with a 3.63 ERA.  

Covey began his professional career in the Oakland Athletics organization after being selected in the fourth round of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of San Diego.
