Wisconsin vs LSU
Opt outs mean everything this bowl season, and both teams will be without their best offensive player. Jayden Daniels is out at quarterback for LSU, and Braelon Allen will not play at running back for Wisconsin. Allen’s departure will hurt Wisconsin more, as the team is very run-dominant, and will be left without an elite back to go against this SEC defense. Wisconsin also does not have their second leading rusher, as Chez Mellusi is out with an injury. The Badgers had 21 rushing touchdowns, opposed to just 11 passing touchdowns, they will struggle to score without their top backs.
Tennessee vs Iowa
Tennessee’s offense will have a long afternoon against the Iowa defense. Sure, the Volunteers may not allow many points, even shorthanded. Yet, for one of the few times this season, Tennessee won’t have much firepower when they have the ball. This should be an old school football game, if you want a snooze fest tune in to this one.
Liberty vs Oregon
There’s no way that this Liberty team goes down without a fight. They have a shot at capping a perfect season, led by an unreal offense that’s intact for this game. Also, with a month to prepare, the Flames will have a game plan for Oregon. the Ducks had a strong season against the run, none of the Pac-12’s offenses are close to the rushing attack of Liberty. Meanwhile, Oregon is playing this game without its leading rusher or receiver. This should be a fun game to watch enjoy the fireworks.
Alabama vs Michigan
this is likely the best team Harbaugh has brought into the playoffs in his three tries thus far. He is 0-2 in the playoffs thus far and has yet to advance to the title game. This team, however, is built in his image. They are experienced, hard-nosed, and rarely make mistakes. Michigan has the kind of ground game that can force more Alabama defensive players into the box and has a steady quarterback in McCarthy that they can trust to make the right reads on play-action. Alabama’s Milroe is dynamic and can be as dangerous running the ball as throwing it but he’s tended to stay in the pocket down the stretch. This is two evenly matched teams it should be a great game.
Washington vs Texas
This one is going to be an entertaining contest between a pair of teams that are high-octane offensively and fairly stout defensively. Texas shrugged off their lone loss this season by rolling to seven straight wins heading into this one, even winning twice without Ewers when he missed time with a sprained AC joint. Losing Brooks is a big problem for Texas and they have to hope that Worthy is somewhere close to 100% after being in a boot after the Big 12 title game. Washington has been overlooked despite all their success this season, as we saw in the Pac-12 title game against Oregon where they won as a near double-digit underdog. This one has classic written all over it. Save the best game to close out the day.
