Nevada Governor Lombardo Names Reno Attorney to NGCB

Reno’s Deputy City Attorney, Chandeni Sendall, has been named the newest member of the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB).

Governor Joe Lombardo announced on Wednesday that Sendall will begin her role on the powerful board this week.

Sendall has been with the city attorney’s office in Reno since 2015, specializing in civil cases. Her previous experience includes an internship with Caesars Entertainment and clerking for Nevada Supreme Court Justice James W. Hardesty. Prior to law school, she worked as an internal auditor for Caesars Entertainment.

A graduate of UNLV’s William S. Boyd School of Law, Sendall was selected as editor-in-chief of the UNLV Gaming Law Journal during her studies.

Governor Lombardo praised Sendall’s unique background, stating, “With her expertise in law and compliance, Chandeni will bring fresh insights and critical perspectives to the board. I look forward to her leadership and contributions to gaming oversight in our state.”

Sendall expressed her gratitude for the appointment, saying, “I’m thankful to Governor Lombardo for this opportunity to serve the State of Nevada. I look forward to applying my legal and economics background, along with my experience in the gaming industry, as I embark on this new role at the Nevada Gaming Control Board.”

Sendall replaces Brittnie Watkins, who chose not to seek reappointment to the NGCB. Watkins, appointed in 2021, had previously worked as an attorney specializing in commercial litigation and served as interim chairwoman of the NGCB in 2022 following the resignation of former chairman Brin Gibson.

Sendall’s appointment also coincides with the announcement that NGCB Chairman Kirk Hendrick will be stepping down after the conclusion of this year’s Nevada legislative session. Hendrick, who became NGCB chairman in 2023, has a background as the chief operating officer of the UFC and has also held positions as senior deputy attorney general for the gaming division’s Las Vegas office and chief deputy for the statewide gaming division.

The NGCB is responsible for regulating gambling in Nevada, investigating complaints, enforcing regulations, and overseeing the licensing of gaming venues. The three-member board is appointed by the Nevada governor for four-year terms, although many commissioners have historically chosen to step down before completing their terms to pursue other opportunities.

The Gaming Control Board is scheduled to meet next at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, in the Board’s Public Hearing Room located on the second floor of the Strawberry Square Complex in Harrisburg.
