The Memphis Grizzlies and the visiting Dallas Mavericks are set to face off on Monday night, both looking to break out of their respective slumps. Memphis Grizzlies

The Grizzlies are missing key players, including star guard Ja Morant, who is currently day-to-day with a Grade 1 AC joint sprain of his right shoulder. Morant has missed 16 games this season due to various ailments and averages 21.2 points and 7.9 assists when healthy. Other key reserves like Marcus Smart and Santi Aldama are also out, further depleting the roster.

The Grizzlies’ recent loss to the Golden State Warriors highlighted their turnover issues, as they committed 23 turnovers, leading to 28 Warriors points. Desmond Bane and Jaren Jackson Jr. played over 34 minutes each in that game, with Bane contributing a double-double of 22 points and 10 assists, but also committing eight turnovers.

Dallas Mavericks

The Mavericks are without their star player, Luka Doncic, who is sidelined with a left calf injury and will be out for at least three more weeks. Kyrie Irving was also ruled out for Monday’s game due to a lumbar sprain, after being a late scratch with an illness in their recent loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Despite these absences, Quentin Grimes stepped up in the loss to Cleveland, finishing with 26 points and six assists. Dallas coach Jason Kidd praised Grimes for his performance, noting that he showed he can be effective even when Doncic and Irving are healthy.

Outlook

Both teams are eager to turn things around and secure a much-needed win. The Grizzlies have been strong on the boards, ranking second in the NBA with 48.5 rebounds per game, but their defense has allowed 115 points per game. The Mavericks, on the other hand, average 116.7 points per game and allow 113, ranking eighth and 14th in those categories, respectively.

This matchup will be a test of resilience for both teams as they navigate through their injury challenges and try to climb out of their slumps. Fans will be watching closely to see if the Grizzlies can overcome their turnover issues and if the Mavericks can continue to rely on their depth to stay competitive.
