NBA Preview: Los Angeles Lakers (3-0) vs Phoenix Suns (2-1)

The Los Angeles Lakers are off to their best start in 14 years with a 3-0 record, aiming to continue this streak as they visit the Phoenix Suns on Monday night. This game marks the beginning of a five-game road trip after the Lakers won their first three home games against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Suns, and Sacramento Kings by an average margin of six points. Under new coach JJ Redick, the Lakers have averaged 121.3 points per game.

Anthony Davis has been phenomenal, scoring over 30 points in each game and averaging 34 points and 11 rebounds. LeBron James shined against Sacramento with a 32-point, 14-rebound, 10-assist triple-double, his 113th career triple-double. In the fourth quarter against the Kings, James and Davis were perfect from the field, with James scoring 16 points, making three 3-pointers, and adding six assists and five rebounds.

The Lakers defeated the Suns 123-116 on Friday, with Davis scoring 35 points, Austin Reaves adding 26, and James contributing 21. For the Suns, Kevin Durant scored 30 points on 11-of-17 shooting, and Devin Booker added 23 points.

Phoenix improved to 2-1 on Saturday with a 114-102 home win over the Dallas Mavericks. Durant scored 31 points, becoming the eighth player in NBA history to surpass 29,000 points, joining an elite group of basketball legends. Booker added 21 points, and Jusuf Nurkic recorded 18 points and 14 rebounds.

Bradley Beal (elbow) missed Saturday’s game but is expected to return on Monday, and Grayson Allen, who missed the last two games for the birth of his daughter, is slated to be available.

The Lakers have won six of their last eight meetings with the Suns, making Monday’s game an intriguing matchup as both teams look to maintain their momentum.
