The Phoenix Suns, labeled as underachievers and rumored to have a toxic locker room, defied expectations with a thrilling 135-127 overtime victory against the Utah Jazz on Friday night. They now look to build on that momentum when they host the Denver Nuggets on Saturday night.

Suns’ Situation:
Grayson Allen played a pivotal role in Friday’s win, hitting two clutch 3-pointers in the final 1.2 seconds of regulation to force overtime. He then opened the extra session with another 3-pointer, helping the Suns score the first eight points of overtime to secure the victory. Devin Booker also shone brightly, scoring a season-high 47 points and adding 11 assists. Allen contributed 21 points, making seven 3-pointers.
Booker logged 49 minutes, with Kevin Durant (ankle) and Bradley Beal (toe) sitting out. Durant, who has missed the past two games, is 26 points away from becoming the eighth player in NBA history to score 30,000 career points.
Nuggets’ Situation:
The Nuggets are on a roll, having won five straight games and 13 of their last 17. Despite not making any moves at the trade deadline, they remain a force in the Western Conference, currently standing third. Head coach Michael Malone remains focused on maintaining the team’s high standards.
Denver will be without Russell Westbrook (hamstring) for the fifth consecutive game. Jamal Murray (knee) and Michael Porter Jr. (hamstring) are questionable, while Aaron Gordon (calf) is probable. Porter has been sensational over the past three games, averaging 35 points and 8.7 rebounds, shooting 63.9 percent from the field and 58.6 percent from beyond the arc.
Porter didn’t have a 30-point outing all season until recently, scoring 36 and 39 in back-to-back games against the New Orleans Pelicans, and following up with 30 in Thursday’s 112-90 victory over the Orlando Magic. Nikola Jokic continues to dominate, recording his 24th triple-double of the season with 28 points, 12 assists, and 10 rebounds against Orlando.
Season Series:
Denver and Phoenix have split their two meetings earlier this season. The Nuggets secured a 117-90 home win on December 23, while the Suns recorded a 110-100 home victory on Christmas night.
Key Players:
- Suns: Devin Booker, Grayson Allen, Kevin Durant (injured), Bradley Beal (injured)
- Nuggets: Nikola Jokic, Michael Porter Jr. (questionable), Jamal Murray (questionable), Aaron Gordon (probable)
