MONTREAL – The Montreal Alouettes have secured one of their brightest stars for the long term, announcing Tuesday that receiver Tyson Philpot has signed a contract extension through the 2027 season.

Philpot, who was set to hit free agency in February, will remain a cornerstone of the Alouettes’ offense.

A Key Piece Locked In

“This is excellent news for our team,” said general manager Danny Maciocia. “Tyson is one of the premier receivers in the CFL — agile, fast, and reliable. At just 25 years old, he still hasn’t reached his ceiling. This is truly a great day for the Alouettes.”

Rising Star

A native of Delta, B.C., Philpot was selected ninth overall in the 2022 CFL Draft and has since appeared in 52 games, recording 205 receptions for 2,574 yards and 17 touchdowns.

Championship Pedigree

Philpot played a pivotal role in the Alouettes’ 110th Grey Cup victory, hauling in six catches for 63 yards and a touchdown en route to being named Most Valuable Canadian. He was equally instrumental in the team’s run to the 112th Grey Cup, finishing the 2025 season with 61 receptions, 804 yards, and five touchdowns in just 12 games.

Looking Ahead

With Philpot’s extension secured, Montreal ensures that one of the league’s most dynamic young playmakers will continue to be a driving force in their pursuit of future championships.
