MMA Preview:  UFC 308 – Robert Whittaker (27-7) vs. Khamzat Chimaev (13-0)

The upcoming bout between Robert Whittaker (27-7) and Khamzat Chimaev (13-0) has fans buzzing. Though the odds favor Chimaev, there are key details worth noting before making any predictions.

This middleweight match, with a weight limit of 185 pounds, sees Whittaker, a former welterweight, now as one of the division’s most formidable fighters. Known as “Bobby Knuckles,” Whittaker’s striking and takedown defense (82%) make him a force to be reckoned with. Despite being only three years older than Chimaev, he’s faced top-tier opponents like Dricus du Plessis, Israel Adesanya, and Marvin Vettori.

Chimaev, on the other hand, has a spotless record but has faced criticism for dodging fights. He canceled a bout with Whittaker last June due to illness and showed up overweight for UFC 279. Nevertheless, he’s got significant backing, including UFC boss Dana White, which positions him for a title shot if he wins against Whittaker.

This fight could be a career-defining moment for both fighters, with Whittaker looking to halt Chimaev’s momentum and Chimaev aiming to cement his status as a top contender.
