MMA Preview: Muhammed Mokaev (12-0-1) vs Manel Kape (19-6)

Whoever wins the Muhammad Mokaev vs. Manel Kape will become the fighter with the longest-active winning run in the UFC Flyweight Division (excluding the champion), so it’s not crazy to think that they’ll get a shot at the title.

Knowing this, it’s clear that both fighters will go all-in on Saturday, July 27. Plus, they seem to hate each other and have even got into a scrap recently at the UFC Performance Center after Kape headbutted Mokaev.

When, Where, and How to Watch?

How to Watch: PPV

Born in Dagestan in 2000, Muhammed Mokaev has been living in Manchester since the age of 12, and Manchester is where his fight with Manel Kape will take place on July 27. It’s needless to say he’s going to have his fans there with him to support him.

That’s not his only advantage over Kape. He’s also a much better wrestler. In fact, he might be the best wrestler in the flyweight division of the UFC. This guy lands 5.75 takedowns per fight on average and is incredibly dangerous on the ground. He’s 12-0-1 overall with 50% of his wins happening by submission.

He doesn’t land too many strikes, but the fact is that he’s a decent boxer as well. The evidence of this is that he out-boxed Alex Perez in his most recent fight, hitting him 47 times while absorbing only 30 strikes in three rounds.

Manel Kape is 19-6 overall with four losses by decision and two by submission. When it comes to his wins, most of them came via knockout/technical knockout. That’s exactly what we think he’ll go for in the July 27 fight.

He wants to humiliate Mokaev in front of his crowd in Manchester. It seems that he hates the guy. The two had some arguments on social media, before having a fight at the UFC Performance Institute – Kape headbutted and elbowed Mokaev before the two were separated. It seems that his beef with the 23-year-old is what’s fueling his motivation ahead of the UFC 304 fight. But does he have the skills necessary to make his plan work?
