Inter Miami has won its last four matches against Toronto FC after the Reds won the first meeting, 2-1, in November 2020. Toronto is one of two teams (Cincinnati) that Miami has defeated four times in MLS play.
Toronto FC’s 4-0 defeat to Orlando City on September 17 was the third straight match its allowed four goals, the fourth team in MLS history to do so and the first since Cincinnati last season. No team has allowed four goals in more than three straight matches in MLS history.
Inter Miami earned its third road win of the year on September 18, beating D.C., 3-2, at Audi Field. The victory was the club’s 10th away win in the club’s MLS history, with all 10 wins coming by a one-goal margin.
Federico Bernardeschi has scored in each of his first five home games with Toronto FC. Two players in MLS history have scored in their first six home league games: Joe-Max Moore for New England in 1996 and Mamadou Diallo for Tampa Bay in 2000.
Gonzalo Higuain has scored in each of Miami’s last three matches (4 goals ) including a stoppage time winner against D.C. on September 18. Higuain is the first player in club history to score in three straight MLS matches.
