NEW YORK YANKEES
With tonight’s victory, the Yankees win the 2024 ALCS 4-1 and clinch the American League Championship for an MLB record 41st time in franchise history, and first time since 2009, when they captured their 27th World Series Championship in franchise history.

CLEVELAND GUARDIANS
With tonight’s loss, the Guardians are eliminated from the 2024 Postseason and lose the ALCS 4-1…Finish the 2024 Postseason with a 4-6 overall record.

  • Guardians are now 2-4 all-time in Game 5 of the ALCS, including a 1-4 record at home.
  • Tonight was Guardians 17th extra-inning Postseason game in franchise history…Now hold a 11-6 all-time record in those games…This is the First time Cleveland has played multiple extra inning contests in the same Postseason since the 1997 ALCS vs. Baltimore (Games 3 & 6 – both wins).

  • Became fourth Cleveland player with multiple outfield assists in a single Postseason, joining Manny Ramirez (1996), David Justice (1999) and Franklin Gutierrez (2007).
  • BO NAYLOR: Drove in the first run of the game with an RBI double in the 2nd inning, scoring his brother Josh Naylor from first base.
  • The RBI double came on the 10th pitch of his at bat, marking the first Cleveland Postseason RBI hit on a 10+ pitch at-bat since Yan Gomes’ walkoff single in Game 2 of the 2017 ALDS vs. Yankees.
  • BO NAYLOR AND JOSH NAYLOR: After Josh Naylor singled in the 2nd inning, he was driven in by Bo Naylor on an RBI double later in the inning.
  • Fourth time in Postseason history that a brother drove in his brother (credit: ELIAS).
  • 2001 ALDS Game 4: Oakland’s Jeremy Giambi drove in Jason Giambi in 3rd inning
  • 1996 NLDS Game 2: San Diego’s Tony Gwynn drove in Chris Gwynn in 6th inning
  • 1927 World Series Game 2: Pittsburgh’s Paul Waner drove in Lloyd Waner in 8th inning
  • STEVEN KWAN: Singled in the 5th inning to extend his Postseason franchise record on-base streak to 16 games.
  • Batted .381 (16/42) across his 10 games in the 2024 Postseason with a .458 OBP and .863 OPS…The .381 average is the highest in a single Postseason in Cleveland history (min. 7 games); previous was .357 (15/42) by Tony Fernandez in 1997.
  • JOSÉ RAMÍREZ: Drew his fifth intentional walk of the Postseason in the 5th inning.
  • The five IBB lead the Majors in the 2024 Postseason.
