Minnesota Wild re-signs Forward Marcus Johansson to One-Year Deal

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – The Minnesota Wild have signed veteran forward Marcus Johansson to a one-year, $800,000 contract for the 2025–26 NHL season, President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Bill Guerin announced today.

Johansson, 34, appeared in 72 games for the Wild in 2024–25, recording 34 points (11 goals, 23 assists) and 121 shots on goal, ranking sixth on the team in both points and assists. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound winger reached a major milestone this season, notching his 500th career NHL point with an assist on February 22 at Detroit.

In postseason action, Johansson added two assists in five Stanley Cup Playoff games, and later represented Sweden at the 2025 IIHF World Championship, where he posted eight points (4 goals, 4 assists) in nine games to help his country capture a bronze medal.

Over his 15-year NHL career, Johansson has compiled 517 points (185 goals, 332 assists), 1,509 shots on goal, and 154 penalty minutes in 983 games with Washington, New Jersey, Boston, Buffalo, Seattle, and Minnesota. Since joining the Wild, he has amassed 96 points (34-62—96) across 206 games in parts of four seasons (2020–21, 2022–25).

The Bronxville, Sweden native has also tallied 47 points (16-31—47) in 114 Stanley Cup Playoff appearances. He was originally selected by the Washington Capitals in the first round (24th overall) of the 2009 NHL Draft.
