The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has issued cease-and-desist letters to CryptoWins Casino, Slotland Casino, and Win A Day Casino, after determining the platforms were offering internet gaming illegally to Michigan residents.

Immediate Action Required

The directive requires each operator to stop accepting bets from Michigan players and block access to their sites. None of the three platforms hold MGCB licenses or authorization to provide internet gaming or sports betting in the state.

Statement from MGCB Executive Director

“Michigan law is clear—if you want to offer internet gaming in this state, you must be licensed,” said Henry Williams, MGCB Executive Director.

He warned that unlicensed operators pose serious risks:

“Illegal gaming sites have no oversight, no consumer protections, and no guarantee that winnings will ever be paid out.”

Williams stressed that the Board’s enforcement actions are part of its ongoing mission to safeguard players and uphold fairness in Michigan’s regulated market:

“We have a strong regulatory system that ensures games are fair, operators are accountable, and players’ information and funds are secure. When offshore or unregulated casinos try to bypass those rules, it undermines everything that makes our market safe and credible.”

Regulatory Context

Since Michigan launched regulated internet gaming and sports betting in January 2021, the MGCB has closely monitored online activity. Licensed operators must:

  • Partner with authorized casinos or tribal operators
  • Undergo rigorous background checks
  • Adhere to strict standards for game fairness, player protection, and responsible gambling
