Five Unlicensed Operators Ordered to Cease and Desist
LANSING, MI – The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has issued cease-and-desist orders to five illegal online gambling sites, demanding they exit the Michigan market within 14 days or face further legal consequences.
Illegal Operators Targeting Michigan Residents
The MGCB identified five iGaming platforms operating without the required state licenses:
- BoVegas Casino – Offered slots and table games despite lacking authorization, potentially exposing players to fraud.
- BUSR – Operated without consumer protections, providing sports betting and casino gaming illegally.
- Cherry Gold Casino – Hosted an extensive catalog of unlicensed gambling content, posing risks to Michigan players.
- Lucky Legends – Marketed itself as a VIP gaming site, yet failed to meet state fair-play regulations.
- Wager Attack Casino – Facilitated both sports betting and iGaming without a license, violating multiple gaming laws.
The MGCB confirmed that all five websites breached Michigan’s Lawful Internet Gaming Act, the Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act, and the Michigan Penal Code.
Regulatory Action & Consumer Warnings
The MGCB emphasized the dangers of unregulated gambling sites, noting that such operators:
- Lack transparency and fair-play protections.
- Can lead to unreliable payouts and unfair gaming practices.
- Offer no legal recourse for players facing disputes.
Henry Williams, the MGCB’s executive director, reinforced the agency’s zero-tolerance policy for illicit gambling platforms, stating:
“We will not tolerate unlicensed gambling operations that exploit Michigan residents. Our top priority is to protect the public by enforcing the law and shutting down these illegal platforms.”
Williams assured that the MGCB will continue to take strong regulatory action to uphold market integrity and ensure Michigan players have safer gaming alternatives.
