Valletta, Malta –The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has issued a public warning after identifying two gambling websites, lavbet321.com and kasinoseta.com, that are falsely claiming to hold Maltese licenses.
Unauthorized Operators Flagged
The regulator clarified that neither site is licensed or authorized to operate under Maltese law, despite portraying themselves as connected to the MGA. The Authority stressed that such claims are deceptive and pose significant risks to consumers.
According to the MGA, unlicensed operators fail to meet the strict standards required of licensed platforms, including obligations around consumer protection, fair play, and responsible gambling.
Risks to Players
In its notice, the MGA cautioned that engaging with unlicensed websites exposes players to heightened risks, as these entities are not bound by Malta’s regulatory safeguards. The Authority urged consumers to verify an operator’s licensing status before using its services. A publicly available register of authorized operators is maintained to help players confirm whether a platform is legally permitted to provide gaming services.
Ongoing Enforcement and Player Protection
The MGA reaffirmed that monitoring unlicensed activity and safeguarding players remain central to its mandate. Licensed operators are required to comply with rigorous standards designed to protect consumers and promote responsible gambling.
Looking ahead, the Authority highlighted its revised regulatory focus for 2025, which prioritizes enforcement, oversight, and consumer protection. As part of these efforts, the MGA recently introduced a self-assessment tool to help individuals evaluate their gambling behavior, offering personalized guidance and directing users to support services when needed.
