Quinten Post will get his first taste of one of the NBA’s most storied rivalries when the Golden State Warriors host the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday night in San Francisco.

Post, a Netherlands native who played college basketball at Mississippi State and Boston College, has appeared in six NBA games for the Warriors since his debut on December 27 against the Los Angeles Clippers. His standout performance came on Thursday against the Chicago Bulls, where he contributed 20 points, five rebounds, and three assists in a 131-106 home victory. Notably, Post made history by becoming the first 7-footer in Warriors history to make five or more 3-pointers in a game, hitting 15 of his 20 points from beyond the arc.
Despite making 50 3-pointers at a 43.1 percent success rate last season at Boston College, Post was selected 52nd in last year’s draft and signed to a two-way contract, spending more time in the G League than the NBA this season. He attributes his success to the guidance of Stephen Curry, who has helped him maximize his perimeter-shooting skills.
Golden State Warriors
Post has yet to face the Lakers, who narrowly defeated the Warriors 115-113 in their last visit to San Francisco on Christmas Day. During that game, Golden State centers Trayce Jackson-Davis and Kevon Looney struggled from beyond the arc, combining for a total of 10-for-63 in their careers.
Los Angeles Lakers
Lakers star big man Anthony Davis played just seven minutes during their Christmas Day game before exiting with a left ankle injury. LeBron James led the way for the Lakers with 31 points and 10 assists. The short trip to San Francisco is just a stopover for the Lakers, who are set to embark on a four-game Eastern Conference road trip starting Monday in Charlotte. The Lakers have won four of their last five games, including a dominant 117-96 victory over the Boston Celtics on Thursday.
As the Lakers prepare for their road trip, Davis is hoping to see another big man join the roster.
