LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers announced today that they have added outfielder Ryan Ward and left-handed pitcher Robinson Ortiz to the 40-man roster. To clear space, the club outrighted outfielder Justin Dean and right-handed pitcher Michael Grove, while designating right-hander Tony Gonsolin for assignment.
Ryan Ward
- Age: 27
- 2025 Season: Named Pacific Coast League Most Valuable Player after slashing .290/.380/.557 with 36 home runs and 122 RBI for Triple-A Oklahoma City.
- League Leader: Led all of Minor League Baseball in home runs, RBI, extra-base hits (73), and total bases (315). Ranked second in the PCL in runs scored (113), third in slugging (.557) and OPS (.937), and fourth in hits (164).
- Career Notes: Drafted by Los Angeles in the eighth round of the 2019 MLB Draft out of Bryant University (Rhode Island). Across six minor league seasons, Ward has posted a .265/.341/.503 slash line with 150 home runs, 133 doubles, and 506 RBI in 678 games.
Robinson Ortiz
- Age: 25
- 2025 Season: Combined 5-2 record with a 2.73 ERA across 48 appearances between High-A Great Lakes, Double-A Tulsa, and Triple-A Oklahoma City.
- Promoted to Double-A on June 17, where he went 3-0 with a 1.69 ERA.
- Advanced to Triple-A on August 12, finishing with a 2.76 ERA and 14 strikeouts in 16.1 innings for Oklahoma City.
- Career Notes: Signed by the Dodgers as an international free agent on June 2, 2017, out of Peravia, Dominican Republic. Over six seasons, Ortiz has compiled a 17-12 record with a 3.48 ERA and a 9.0 strikeouts-per-nine ratio in 99 minor league games.
