LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers have made a roster adjustment, activating infielder/outfielder Tommy Edman while releasing infielder/outfielder Chris Taylor.
Tommy Edman Returns from Injury
Edman, 29, re-joins the Dodgers’ lineup after missing 16 games due to an ankle injury. He has been a key contributor this season, batting .252 with eight home runs and 24 RBIs. The 2024 NLCS MVP is now in his second season with Los Angeles, where he has totaled 14 home runs in 67 games.
Over his seven-year MLB career, which includes time with the St. Louis Cardinals (2019-2023) and Dodgers (2024-present), Edman has compiled a .263 batting average, .316 on-base percentage, and .413 slugging percentage, hitting 67 home runs and driving in 266 RBIs. A former Stanford Cardinal, he was drafted by St. Louis in the sixth round of the 2016 MLB Draft.
Chris Taylor’s Tenure Ends
Taylor, 34, appeared in 28 games for the Dodgers this season, hitting .200 with two RBIs. A 2021 All-Star, he played 10 seasons in Los Angeles, posting a .250 batting average, .330 on-base percentage, and .431 slugging percentage, while tallying 108 home runs and 423 RBIs.
A two-time World Series champion, Taylor recorded 846 career hits in 1,093 MLB games, playing for the Seattle Mariners (2014-16) and Dodgers (2016-25). He was originally acquired by Los Angeles in 2016 from Seattle in exchange for right-handed pitcher Zach Lee.
With this move, the Dodgers bolster their lineup as Edman returns to action, while closing the chapter on Taylor’s impactful tenure in Los Angeles.
