Los Angeles Dodgers activate Tommy Edman, Max Muncy and recall Hunter Feduccia

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers activated infielder/outfielder Tommy Edman and infielder Max Muncy from the injured list, recalled catcher Hunter Feduccia, designated infielder Nick Ahmed for assignment, optioned outfielder Andy Pages and placed catcher Austin Barnes on the injured list. In order to make room for Muncy, the Dodgers transferred right-handed pitcher River Ryan to the 60-day injured list.

Edman, 29, was acquired on July 29 in a three-team trade with the Chicago White Sox and St. Louis Cardinals. He has been out all season with offseason wrist surgery. He made six rehab appearances with the Oklahoma City ball club, hitting .294 with one homer and four RBI. The switch-hitting utility player has been in the Majors five seasons, slashing .265/.319/.408 with 53 homers, 222 RBI and 106 stolen bases. He has seen time at six different positions on the field, winning the Rawlings Gold Glove in 2021 at second base after posting a .990 fielding percentage in 508 chances. He was originally selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the sixth round of the 2016 First Year Player Draft out of Stanford University.

Muncy, 33, has been on the injured list since May 17 with a right oblique strain. He is hitting .223 on the season with nine homers and 28 RBI. During his rehab with Triple-A Oklahoma City, he batted .286 with one homer and four RBI. The Texas native has been with the Dodgers seven seasons, slashing .230/.354/.486 with 184 homers and 500 RBI in 791 games. He began his Major League career in 2015 with the Oakland Athletics and has clubbed 189 homers in 887 career Major League games. He was originally drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the fifth round of the 2012 First Year Player Draft out of Baylor University.

Feduccia, 27, returns for his second stint with the team after going 0-for-1 in his lone plate appearance. He appeared in 73 games for Oklahoma City, batting .282 with six homers and 46 RBI. He has been with the organization six seasons, batting .267 with 46 homers and 252 RBI in 438 minor league games. The backstop was drafted in the 12th round of the 2018 First Year Player Draft out of Louisiana State University.

Ahmed, 34, played in 17 games for the Dodgers, hitting .229 with a homer and two RBI. Prior to joining the Dodgers, he played 52 games for San Francisco, hitting .232 with one homer, six doubles and 15 RBI. He has been in the Major Leagues parts of 11 seasons with Arizona (2014-23), San Francisco (2024) and Los Angeles (2024), hitting .234 with 72 homers and 339 RBI in 957 games. He won the Rawlings Gold Glove in back-to-back seasons from 2018-19, making a total of 22 errors in 1,238 chances with 177 double plays. He was originally drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the second round of the 2011 First Year Player Draft out of the University of Connecticut.

Pages, 24, has played in 98 games for the Dodgers this season, hitting .246 with nine home runs and 36 RBI. He joined the Dodgers on April 16 after hitting .371 with five homers and 15 RBI in 15 games with Oklahoma City. In 2023, he played in 34 games between Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Oklahoma City, recording a .907 OPS with 12 doubles and three homers before having to miss the rest of the season with left shoulder surgery. He has amassed 94 homers and 299 RBI in 416 minor league games with a .908 OPS. He was originally signed by the Dodgers as an international free agent on May 1, 2018 out of Havana, Cuba.

Barnes, 34, was added to the injured list with a left great toe fracture. He has played in 34 games for the Dodgers this season, hitting .241 with one homer and eight RBI. He has been with the team parts of 10 seasons, hitting 35 homers and driving in 157 runs in 589 career games. He was originally drafted by the Miami Marlins in the ninth round of the 2011 First Year Player Draft out of Arizona State University.
