Los Angeles Dodgers activate Miguel Rojas and Michael Grove

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers activated infielder Miguel Rojas and right-handed pitcher Michael Grove, optioned outfielder James Outman and placed right-handed pitcher Brusdar Graterol on the injured list.

Rojas, 35, returns after missing 13 games with right forearm tightness. He played one rehab game with Low-A Rancho Cucamonga, going 0-for-3 with a walk. On the season, he was batting .271 with three homers and 21 RBI in 67 games. He is in his 11th season in the Major Leagues with Los Angeles (2014, 2023-24) and Miami (2015-22), slashing .258/.311/.357 with 47 homers and 321 RBI in 1,146 career games. He was acquired by the Dodgers on January 11, 2023 from the Miami Marlins in exchange for minor league infielder Jacob Amaya.

Grove, 27, pitched 0.1 scoreless innings for Oklahoma City on Saturday and made six appearances for the Triple-A affiliate (2 ER, 5.1 IP, 7 SO). The right-hander went on the injured list on June 16 with an intercostal strain. He was 4-3 on the season with a 5.06 ERA in 28 games for the Dodgers. He has made 53 appearances (20 starts) for the Dodgers over three seasons, going 7-6 with a 5.51 ERA and 142 strikeouts in 135.2 innings. He was originally drafted in the second round of the 2018 First Year Player Draft out of West Virginia University.

Outman, 27, made an appearance as a defensive replacement last night. On the season, he is batting .148 with four homers and 11 RBI in 52 games. He has played in 40 games with Triple-A Oklahoma City, slashing .281/.407/.523 with nine homers and 21 RBI. Last season, he finished third in the National League Rookie of the Year voting after clubbing 23 homers and driving in 70 as the primary centerfielder of the Dodgers. He is in his third season with the Dodgers and has hit a combined .231 with 28 homers and 84 RBI in 207 games. He was drafted by the Dodgers in the seventh round of the 2018 First Year Player Draft out of Sacramento State University.

Graterol, 24, was removed from the game in the sixth after suffering a right hamstring strain. It was his first appearance of the 2024 season after missing 112 games with right shoulder inflammation, allowing two runs on one hit in 0.1 innings. He has been with the Dodgers four seasons, and he is a combined 10-8 with a 2.89 ERA in 172 career games. He started his career with the Minnesota Twins in 2019, going 1-1 in 10 games with a 4.66 ERA. He was acquired by the Dodgers on February 10, 2020 from the Twins along with Luke Raley in exchange for right-handed pitcher Kenta Maeda and infielder Jair Camargo.
