The Dutch Gaming Authority (Kansspelautoriteit, Ksa) has issued a formal warning to JOI Gaming Limited, operator of JACKS.NL, for violating the Netherlands’ ban on untargeted advertising for online gambling.
According to the regulator, the Jack’s Casino logo—representing the company’s land‑based venues—appeared on the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) website. While advertising for physical casinos is permitted under strict conditions, the logo on PDC.tv included a direct link to JACKS.NL, which offers online gambling. That link transformed the placement into prohibited online gambling advertising.
Ban on Sports Sponsorship for Online Operators
Since 1 July 2025, the Netherlands has enforced a sports sponsorship ban for online gambling providers as part of its broader prohibition on untargeted advertising. The rules are designed to reduce exposure among vulnerable groups, including young adults and individuals at risk of gambling harm.
How the Violation Occurred
The Ksa received a report that the Jack’s Casino logo on PDC.tv linked directly to JACKS.NL.
- The logo alone is not a violation.
- The embedded link to an online gambling site is, because it constitutes public‑facing online gambling advertising.
Immediate Removal
After being contacted by the Ksa, JACKS.NL removed the link immediately.
Regulator Reinforces Operator Responsibility
The Ksa emphasized that license holders are fully responsible for ensuring compliance with all advertising rules, including monitoring third‑party placements.
The authority stated that it will continue to apply the most effective interventions to maintain a fair, safe, and responsible gambling environment in the Netherlands.
