Colorado Rockies sign Jacob Stallings to one-year contract with mutual option for 2026

DENVER – The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have agreed to a one-year contract with catcher Jacob Stallings for the 2025 season, with a mutual option for 2026.

Stallings, 34, returns to the Rockies after a standout first season in which he set full-season career highs in batting average (.263), on-base percentage (.357), slugging percentage (.453), OPS (.810), and home runs (nine). In 2024, he also recorded a career-high 12 catcher caught stealings, ranking 12th among NL catchers.

The veteran catcher has played in 534 career games over nine seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates (2016-21), Miami Marlins (2022-23), and Rockies, posting a career slash line of .239/.319/.353 with 78 doubles, two triples, 33 home runs, and 184 RBIs. In 2021, Stallings won the National League Rawlings Gold Glove Award at catcher, leading the position with 21 defensive runs saved and a 95.5% pitch block rate without allowing a passed ball. He holds the Major League record for 247 consecutive games at catcher without allowing a passed ball, a streak that lasted from August 18, 2020, to April 4, 2023.

Throughout his career behind the plate, Stallings has maintained a .993 fielding percentage in 4,024 innings while throwing out 21% of attempted base stealers (71 out of 338).

With this transaction, the Rockies’ 40-man roster is now complete.
