The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have selected the contract of outfielder Zac Veen.
Zac Veen: Veen, 22, is ranked as the Rockies’ No. 3 prospect and the 83rd-best prospect overall by MLB Pipeline. Over his four Minor League seasons with the Rockies, he has slashed .260/.355/.424 with 134 stolen bases. Veen was named the Northwest League MVP, a Post-Season All-Star, and the league’s Top Prospect in 2022 after hitting .269/.368/.439 with a league-leading 50 stolen bases and 72 runs scored. He also played for the Salt River Rafters in the 2022 Arizona Fall League, where he was named the AFL Hitter of the Year. In 2021, Veen was named a California League Post-Season All-Star and the league’s Top Prospect after slashing .301/.399/.501 with a .901 OPS and 39 stolen bases with Single-A Fresno in his first professional season. Despite being limited to 46 games in 2023 and 65 games in 2024 due to injury, Veen continues to be a promising talent. He was selected by the Rockies in the first round (ninth overall) of the 2020 MLB Draft out of Spruce Creek High School in Florida.
Following this transaction, the Rockies’ 40-man roster now includes 39 players.
