CLEVELAND, OH – The Cleveland Guardians today announced the signing of free-agent right-handed pitcher Colin Holderman, adding him to the club’s 40-man roster.
Holderman, 30, joins Cleveland after spending the 2025 season with the Pittsburgh Pirates, his fourth year in the organization. The 6-foot-6, 230-pound reliever appeared in 24 games across three stints with the Major League club, posting an 0-2 record and a 7.01 ERA (20 ER/25.2 IP). His campaign was interrupted by injuries, including a right knee sprain (April 6–26) and right thumb inflammation (May 20–July 7).
Despite the setbacks, Holderman was a reliable presence in Pittsburgh’s bullpen during the 2023–24 seasons, combining for a 3.52 ERA (42 ER/107.1 IP) over 113 appearances—the second-most outings by any Pirates pitcher in that span.
A native of Bourbonnais, Illinois, Holderman was selected by the New York Mets in the ninth round of the 2016 MLB Draft. He made his Major League debut with New York on May 15, 2022, going 5-0 with a 3.81 ERA (12 ER/28.1 IP) in 24 games before being traded to Pittsburgh on July 22, 2022 in exchange for Daniel Vogelbach. He was designated for assignment by the Pirates on November 18, 2025, and elected free agency shortly thereafter.
With Holderman’s addition, the Guardians’ 40-man roster remains full at 40 players. He will be under club control through the 2028 season.
