The Cleveland Guardians have completed a trade, acquiring right-handed pitcher Cody Bolton from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for cash considerations. Bolton has been optioned to Triple-A Columbus.
Bolton, 26, has spent his career with the Pittsburgh Pirates and Seattle Mariners organizations, making 33 Major League appearances across the last two seasons (2023-24). In 2024, he split time between Triple-A Tacoma and Seattle, where he posted a 3.07 ERA in Triple-A (33 games, 10 earned runs over 29.1 innings, 34 strikeouts) and a 4.34 ERA with the Mariners (17 games, 9 earned runs over 18.2 innings, 17 strikeouts).
The Tracy, California native was originally drafted by Pittsburgh in the sixth round of the 2017 First-Year Player Draft out of high school. Seattle purchased his contract following the 2023 season, and he began the 2025 campaign at Triple-A Tacoma before being designated for assignment on April 5.
To make room for Bolton on the 40-man roster, the Guardians have transferred left-handed pitcher John Means to the 60-day Injured List.
