BOSTON – Ahead of today’s matchup against the Red Sox, the Chicago White Sox have placed left-handed pitcher Martín Pérez on the 15-day injured list due to left elbow inflammation and have recalled left-hander Jared Shuster from Triple-A Charlotte.
Shuster, 26, has been a standout in relief for Charlotte this season, posting a 3-0 record with a 1.59 ERA (2 ER/11.1 IP), one hold, and 15 strikeouts over six appearances.
The 6-foot-3, 220-pound lefty spent last season with the White Sox, compiling a 2-5 record with a 4.30 ERA (35 ER/73.1 IP), three holds, and 56 strikeouts across 39 outings (four starts). He was acquired from Atlanta as part of a six-player trade on November 16, 2023.
Pérez, 34, exited last night’s game in Boston after pitching three innings. In his first season with Chicago, the veteran southpaw has recorded a 1-1 record with a 3.15 ERA (7 ER/20.0 IP), holding opponents to a .197 batting average while striking out 18 batters over four starts. He signed with the White Sox as a free agent on January 21.
The White Sox will adjust their rotation and bullpen as they navigate Pérez’s absence.
