CHICAGO – Ahead of today’s series finale against the Athletics, the Chicago White Sox made four roster adjustments:
- Selected contract from Class AAA Charlotte: C Edgar Quero (“CARE-oh”)
- Reinstated from 10-day injured list: OF Andrew Benintendi
- Designated for assignment: C Omar Narváez
- Optioned to Charlotte: OF Greg Jones

Quero, 22, is ranked by MLB.com as the No. 6 prospect in the White Sox organization and No. 62 overall in baseball. Baseball America also recognizes him as the Best Defensive Catcher in the system. This season with Charlotte, he is batting .333/.444/.412 (17-51) with one home run, four RBIs, nine runs scored, and 11 walks in 15 games.
The 5-foot-11, 205-pound switch-hitter was named White Sox Minor League Player of the Year by Baseball America in 2024 after recording a .280/.366/.463 slash line (98-350) with 16 home runs and 70 RBIs across 98 games with Class AA Birmingham and Charlotte. Across five minor-league seasons, he has compiled a career batting average of .282/.399/.451 (367-1,303) with 79 doubles, 45 home runs, 236 RBIs, 211 runs scored, and 223 walks in 364 games.
Quero joined the White Sox organization on July 26, 2023, after being acquired from the Los Angeles Angels along with left-handed pitcher Ky Bush in exchange for right-handers Lucas Giolito and Reynaldo López. Originally, he signed with the Angels as an international free agent on February 26, 2021.
Quero has yet to make his major-league debut and will wear uniform No. 7.
Benintendi, 31, was placed on the injured list on April 9 (retroactive to April 7) due to a left adductor strain. In nine games this season—his third with Chicago—he is hitting .290/.333/.464 (9-31) with two home runs, six RBIs, and five runs scored.
Narváez, 33, has appeared in four games this season after being called up from Birmingham on April 10, batting 2-for-7 (.286) with three walks and two RBIs.
Jones, 27, has played in three games across two stints with the White Sox in 2025, going 0-for-2 with one stolen base.
The White Sox 40-man roster remains at 40.
