CHICAGO – The Chicago White Sox have reached an agreement on a one-year, $3.5-million contract with infielder Josh Rojas. To accommodate Rojas on the 40-man roster, the White Sox have designated infielder Jake Amaya for assignment.

Josh Rojas:
- Age: 30
- 2024 Season: Played for the Seattle Mariners, hitting .225/.304/.336 (95-422) with 19 doubles, two triples, eight home runs, 31 RBI, 48 runs scored, and 10 stolen bases over 143 games. He started the season strong, slashing .343/.405/.505 (36-105) with four doubles, two triples, three home runs, and eight RBI in his first 32 games.
- Career Stats: .247/.323/.362 (460-1,862) hitter with 100 doubles, six triples, 34 home runs, 189 RBI, 256 runs scored, and 59 steals in 570 games over five MLB seasons with Arizona (2019-23) and Seattle (2023-24).
- Trade History: Traded by the Diamondbacks along with outfielder Dominic Canzone and infielder Ryan Bliss to the Mariners in exchange for right-handed pitcher Paul Sewald on July 31, 2023.
- Background: A native of Litchfield Park, Arizona, Rojas was originally selected by Houston in the 26th round of the 2017 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Hawai’i. He was acquired by Arizona in a trade involving right-hander Zack Greinke on July 31, 2019.
Jake Amaya:
- Age: 26
- 2024 Season: Batted .176 (12-68) with one double, three RBI, and four runs scored over 24 games between Houston and the White Sox. He was claimed off waivers by the Sox from the Astros on August 26, 2024.
With this move, the White Sox maintain their 40-man roster limit.
