Department of Health, Safety and Integrity Enforces Player Discipline
TORONTO – The Canadian Football League’s (CFL) Department of Health, Safety and Integrity has handed down fines following Week 1 and the preseason. While the department manages player discipline, the Office of the Commissioner oversees suspendible offenses.
Led by Chief Football Operations Officer Greg Dick, the department includes Vice-President of Officiating Darren Hackwood, Associate Vice-President of Football Operations Ryan Janzen, and Associate Vice-President of Health and Safety Eric Noivo.
Week 1 Disciplinary Actions
- Montreal wide receiver Tyler Snead has been fined for violating the CFL Code of Conduct after simulating the firing of a weapon during a post-play celebration.
- Montreal wide receiver Charleston Rambo received a fine for a blindside block on Toronto defensive back Derek Slywka.
Preseason Week B (May 24 – Ottawa at Montreal)
- Ottawa linebacker Tyron Vrede has been fined for a Grade Two spearing incident involving wide receiver Tyjon Lindsey.
CFL Disciplinary Policy
Per CFL policy, fine amounts are not disclosed, nor are disciplinary actions related to:
- Dress code violations
- Infractions involving teams or staff
- Incidents involving released players
