2 MINUTE DRILL
• Miami scored 30 unanswered points en route to a 30-16 victory over Ohio in the annual Battle of the Bricks on Saturday, Oct. 28. Miami’s (7-2, 4-1 MAC) Rashad Amos rushed for a season-high 163 yards and a touchdown, while the defense held Ohio (6-3, 3-2 MAC) to 50 yards rushing on 26 attempts. Aveon Smith, filling in for an injured Brett Gabbert, threw for 103 yards and one score and added a second touchdown on the ground.
• Western Michigan recorded its first road win of the season after defeating Eastern Michigan, 45-21, on Saturday, Oct. 28. The Broncos defense forced four turnovers and directly scored 12 points thanks to two safeties and a strip-sack and score. Defensive end Marshawn Kneeland had a season-high 11 tackles, along with 3.0 sacks, 4.0 tackles for loss and the forced fumble that led to the defensive touchdown
• Marion Lukes and Jase Bauer combined for 308 rushing yards and three touchdowns on Tuesday, Oct. 31 as Central Michigan held off Northern Illinois, 37-31, in a Mid-American Conference midweek game. The win lifted the Chippewas to 5-4, 3-2 MAC and kept them relevant in the chase for the West Division title. The Chippewas and Huskies trail first-place Toledo by two games with three to play.
• Toledo won its eighth-straight game on Halloween, defeating Buffalo, 31-13, at the Glass Bowl. Jacquez Stuart got the Rockets off to a hot start with a 97-yard touchdown right up the middle on the opening kickoff before Peny Boone bolted 71 yards for a score that gave Toledo a 14-0 lead less than four minutes into the game.
• An Alan Anaya field goal late in the fourth quarter propelled Bowling Green to a 24-21 win over Ball State on Wednesday, Nov. 1. The Falcons’ defense forced a turnover for the 10th-straight game, while Terion Stewart ran for 92 yards and a touchdown to help Bowling Green win its third-straight game.
• Akron scored 21 unanswered points, highlighted by an eight-play, 57-yard drive capped off by a rushing touchdown from Jeff Undercuffler, Jr. with less than a minute remaining, to defeat rival Kent State, 31-27 and claim the Wagon Wheel for the first time since 2018.
MAC NOTES
• Midweek #MACtion Begins
The Week 9 and 10 slate was highlighted by the beginning of midweek #MACtion on Tuesday, Oct. 31 and Wednesday, Nov. 1. Toledo won its eighth-straight game and Central Michigan de- feated Northern Illinois for its fifth win of the 2023 season on Halloween. Akron claimed the Wagon Wheel for the first time since 2018, coming back to beat Kent State by a final score of 31- 27, while Bowling Green won its third-straight conference game with a three-point victory over Ball State on Wednesday, Nov. 1. Additionally, Miami defeated Ohio, 30-16, in the Battle of the Bricks in Athens on Saturday, Oct. 28.
• Lift Off Toledo extended its winning streak to eight games and improved its record to 8-1 (5-0 MAC) with a 31-13 victory over Buffalo at the Glass Bowl on Halloween.
The Rockets are one of nine FBS teams currently with a winning streak of at least eight games:
Toledo is 8-1 for the first time since 2017 when it also opened with an 8-1 mark. The Rockets have won eight straight games for the first time since 2012 when they won eight straight following a season-opening overtime loss at Arizona. Toledo begins the MAC season with a 5-0 mark for the first time since 2017 when it won its first five MAC games.
• Miami RedHawks Road Warriors With its 30-16 win at Ohio last Saturday, Miami is now 5-1 on the road this season, the best in the NCAA.
