CONFERENCE NEWS & NOTES
The Big 12 has the tightest conference race in the nation with 50 percent of teams within a game of each other in the top half of the conference standings.
Six of last week’s seven games were decided by a touchdown or less, including three by three-or-less points and two in overtime.
n conference games, 45.2% have been determined by eight-or-less points, the second-highest percentage among Power Five leagues.
Kansas, K-State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas and West Virginia have reached bowl eligibility. BYU and Iowa State are one win away
The Big 12 had five teams ranked in the first CFP Poll of the season. Texas checked in at No. 7 followed by No. 9 Oklahoma, No. 21 Kansas, No. 22 Oklahoma State and No. 23 K-State.
The Big 12 has two of the three teams with three wins over CFP Top 25 teams.

Five Big 12 teams (BYU, Kansas, K-State, Oklahoma, Texas) are undefeated at home this season. Oklahoma State joins the group as undefeated in home league games.
In conference games, the home team holds a 25-16 advantage.
Among conferences, the Big 12 is first in rushing yards per game (170.2), second in total yards (421.6) and third in passing yards (251.4) and scoring (30.0).
Oklahoma State was named the Cheez-It National Team of the Week.
OSU head coach Mike Gundy recorded his 100th career Big 12 win, just the third coach in Conference history to reach the milestone. The other two are Bob Stoops (Oklahoma) and Bill Snyder (K-State).
Oklahoma State’s Ollie Gordon II (co-offensive) became just the second student-athlete in Conference history to earn four consecutive Big 12 Player of the Week awards. He was joined by his teammate Xavier Benson (defensive), UCF’s RJ Harvey (co-offensive) and the Texas duo of Adonai Mitchell (newcomer) and Bert Auburn (special teams) as Week 10 honorees
The Big 12 finished regular season non-conference play at 30-12 (.714).
Baylor freshman CB Caden Jenkins had five stops and an interception against Houston. Jenkins picked off his team-leading third pass of the year, which ties him for the NCAA lead among freshmen.
BYU’s Jake Retzlaff started his first career game and was the first junior college quarterback to start a game for BYU since Christan Stewart in 2014 out of Snow College.
UCF’s defense set a season-high in both sacks and tackles for loss. The Knights’ five sacks are the most since six against South Florida Nov. 26, 2021. The Knights also tallied nine tackles for loss in the win, the most since also notching nine versus Georgia Tech last season on Sept. 24.
For the third time this season, Cincinnati had two rushers, Corey Kiner (114) and Ryan Montgomery (113), run for over 100 yards in the same game. It is the first time in school history Cincinnati has had three games in a season with two players rushing for over 100 yards
Houston has played in an FBS-leading six overtime games since the start of the 2021 season and an FBS-leading five OT games since the start of the 2022 season.
ISU QB Rocco Becht had 20 completions against Kansas to set the school record for completions by a freshman with 162.
Kansas’ Mello Dotson returned an interception for a touchdown for the second consecutive week. With two interceptions returned for TDs this season, He ties the Kansas single-season record previously set by Aqib Talib (2007), Patrick Brown (1997) and Roger Foote (1981).
K-State’s sophomore cornerback Jacob Parrish recorded a pair of interceptions in the Texas contest after coming into the game with one pick in his career (vs. UCF). It is the second time a Wildcat had two interceptions in a game this season, the other being Kobe Savage at Texas Tech.
Oklahoma’s 15 interceptions are its most through nine games since the 2001 season (also had 15). OU ranks second nationally in interceptions
Oklahoma State did not allow a sack for the third straight game, its first time doing so since 2012, and has surrendered just one sack in the past five games for the first time since the last two games in 2011 and first three in 2012. In Big 12 play only, OSU is tops in the conference with just two sacks allowed.
TCU’s Josh Hoover passed for 353 yards, marking the second-best game of his career, trailing only the 439 earlier this season against BYU.
Texas is one of three teams to have scored 30 or more points in every game this season.
Texas Tech’s Tahj Brooks carried the ball more than 30 times for the third time this season. He’s the first Red Raider to do so since Byron Hanspard in 1996 – which was 30+ carries in four-straight games. West Virginia reached 300 yards on the ground (vs. BYU) against an FBS team for the first time since Dec. 3, 2016 (vs. Baylor).
