MEC Football Week Five
• The Mountain East Conference football schedule shifts into high gear this weekend with five MEC contests all set for Saturday afternoon kickoffs.
• Unbeaten and nationally-ranked Charleston hosts Glenville State and UNC-Pembroke makes the long trek north to Wheeling in a pair of high noon showdowns before unbeaten Frostburg State welcomes W.Va. Wesleyan and Concord heads to West Liberty in 1 p.m. starts. Saturday’s slate concludes with a 2 p.m. tilt between Fairmont State and West Virginia State in Fairmont.

• Holloway’s 357 All-Purpose Yards on Saturday ranks among the Top 10 all-time in the MEC and is No. 2 nationally this season
• Fairmont State freshman QB Nino Marzullo completed 28-of-44 passes for 435 yards and 3 TDs in Saturday’s 52-49 win at Wheeling. That’s the most passing yards by an MEC quarterback since W.Va. Wesleyan’s Nate Payne threw for 439 yards in a 55-20 loss to Fairmont State on Nov. 11, 2023

MEC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Fairmont State quarterback Nino Marzullo earned MEC Offensive Player of the Week honors while Frostburg State linebacker Colby Street was named MEC Defensive Player of the Week. Wheeling wide receiver/return specialist Tre Holloway was the MEC Special Teams Player of the Week.
Marzullo, a 6-2, 210-pound freshman from Gaithersburg, Md., completed 28-of-44 passes for an MEC season-high 435 yards and 3 TDs while running for 48 yards and 3 more scores in the Falcons’ 52-49 win at Wheeling. His 483 yards of total offense ranks No. 10 all-time in the MEC while his 435 passing yards were the most by an NCAA Division II freshman since 2021.
Street, a 5-11, 230-pound senior from Roanoke, Va., charted a team-high 7 tackles – 6 solo – in Frostburg State’s 25-24 road win at FCS Mercyhurst (Pa.). Street’s clutch fumble recovery with less than three minutes to play sealed the victory for the unbeaten Bobcats.
Holloway, a 5-11, 195-pound junior from Washington, D.C., had kickoff return touchdowns of 99 and 95 yards to highlight a record-setting day in Wheeling’s 52-49 loss to Fairmont State. Holloway set MEC single-game records for kick return yards (288), kick return average (57.6 ypr.) and combined PR/ KR return yards (292) while his 357 All-Purpose Yards is No. 2 nationally this season.
