CALGARY – The Calgary Stampeders are keeping a key piece of their defence in place, announcing Thursday that American linebacker Kyle Wilson has signed a contract extension.
Wilson, a Wichita, Kan., native and five‑year CFL veteran, had been set to hit free agency on Feb. 10 before finalizing the new deal.
The 26‑year‑old joined Calgary midway through the 2025 season, signing on June 26 after opening the year with the Hamilton Tiger‑Cats. Across 16 total games between the two clubs, Wilson recorded 67 defensive tackles, including one tackle for loss, along with six special teams tackles, one forced fumble, and one knockdown.
Over 65 career CFL games, Wilson has compiled an impressive 216 defensive tackles, nine tackles for loss, 16 special teams tackles, two sacks, four forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, one interception, and four knockdowns.
Before heading north, Wilson starred at Arkansas State, earning second‑team Sun Belt Conference all‑star honours as a senior. He also spent time on NFL practice squads with the Philadelphia Eagles and Los Angeles Chargers.
