Boxing Preview: Conor Benn (22-0-0, 14 KOs) vs Peter Dobson (16-0-0, 9 KOs)

Conor Benn is gearing up to throw down in back-to-back American brawls at The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, squaring off with Peter Dobson on Saturday, February 3. This showdown is going to hit the airwaves live worldwide on DAZN. Benn’s going to be duking it out in the early afternoon Vegas time, just so the UK fans don’t have to stay up past their bedtimes.

Benn (22-0 14 KOs), last seen in the squared circle 17 months ago in Orlando, chalked up a 10-round points win over the tough-as-nails Mexican Rodolfo Orozco. ‘The Destroyer’, sitting pretty at #5 with the WBC, has his eyes on the big fish and World title glory in 2024. His journey kicks off against Dobson, marking his first star billing in Uncle Sam’s backyard, going 12 rounds at Welterweight.

“Headlining in Vegas? It’s like hitting the jackpot, not just for me, but for any glove-slinger who grew up idolizing the sweet science,” quipped Benn. “Vegas is where legends are made, and I’m buzzing to jump into that ring on February 3rd against the undefeated Welterweight Peter Dobson. This guy’s got guts; he said yes when others might’ve run for the hills.

“When my last fight went down the drain, I was gutted. But hey, in boxing, when one door slams shut, another magically opens. This hiccup’s got me back on track, ready to send a wake-up call to the entire 147 division.

“Big shoutout to my family, my die-hard team, my ride-or-die friends, and fans. You’re the real MVPs. Get ready for a rollercoaster 2024, kicking off with our Vegas debut and the start of our quest for World Welterweight crowns.”

Dobson (16-0 9 KOs), the man of the hour, finally snagged the big fight he’s been chasing. After two near-misses with Matchroom fighters, this 33-year-old is ready to launch himself into the big leagues. If he can pull off a win on February 3, he’s going to shake up the scene.

“Kudos to Matchroom for circling back to me,” said Dobson. “Eddie Hearn’s a stand-up dude. I just hope Conor Benn stays in one piece and brings his A-game. I’ve said ‘yes’ to every name they’ve thrown at me. Agyarko, McCormack, and now Benn.

“Conor’s about to learn the hard way that he’s not in Kansas anymore. He’s not his old man, and he’s never faced a storm like me. ‘Pistol’ Pete Dobson’s about to turn another Matchroom hopeful into yesterday’s news, live and in color.”

The undercard in Vegas is just as juicy, with Middleweight hotshot Austin Williams locking horns with Connor Coyle for the WBA International and IBF North American bling. Williams (15-0 10 KOs), fresh off his 15th win against Steve Rolls in Orlando, sits at a comfy #3 in the WBA. His opponent, the Irish powerhouse Coyle (20-0 9 KOs), is hot on his heels at #6, riding the high of a fifth-round KO win over Joey Bryant.

“There’s nothing like the thrill of breaking an unbeaten fighter,” Williams chuckled. “Come February 3, Conor Coyle’s going to learn what it means to tangle with a world-class boxer.”

“I’m pumped for February 3,” added Coyle. “Two ravenous middleweights duking it out for a shot at the big time. It’s going to be a barn burner!”

And let’s not forget the British Heavyweight sensation Johnny Fisher (10-0 9 KOs), bringing his ‘Romford Bull Army’ stateside for the first time. After a stellar 2023 that saw him score three knockouts, he’s itching to make noise on the Anthony Joshua vs. Robert Helenius undercard.

Hearn chimed in, “This is Conor’s moment to send a smoke signal to the World champs and top dogs for 2024. He’s got fists that itch for a fight, and he’s on a seek-and-destroy mission in Vegas. But Peter’s got a golden ticket to flip the script and bust into the big time. Plus, UK fans can catch the action at a civilized 11pm.”

“Ammo versus Connor? That’s a sizzler at 160lbs. Both guys need to prove they’re World title material, and we’ll be throwing more fireworks into the mix soon.” COE,

LIDDARD AND SAINS ADDED TO BENN-DOBSON BILL

Strap in, boxing fans! The undercard of Conor Benn’s showdown with Peter Dobson at The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas on Saturday, February 3, is looking like a sizzler, and it’s all going down live on DAZN. Oh, and in case you missed it, tickets are already up for grabs!

First up, Khalil Coe (7-0-1 5KOs) is riding high on a knockout wave. After three KO victories in 2023, this 26-year-old former Team USA prospect is all set to test his mettle at 175lbs. His opponent? None other than the Mexican knockout maestro Gerardo Osuna (20-0 18 KOs). Osuna, a force to be reckoned with, also bagged all three of his 2023 fights by knockout. This is his maiden fight in the States, and it promises to be an eight-round thriller.

Then we’ve got two of Matchroom’s hottest young British talents, George Liddard (5-0 3 KOs) and Jimmy Sains (2-0 2 KOs), ready to soak in the neon glow of Las Vegas. These guys are hitching a ride to the States with their gym buddies, Conor Benn and John Ryder. Ryder’s all set for his own tussle with Jaime Munguia in Phoenix, Arizona. Liddard and Sains will be throwing down at Middleweight, with Liddard in for six rounds and Sains for four.

It’s a British invasion on this card, with Benn leading the charge. Joining the party is the unbeaten heavyweight Johnny Fisher (10-0 9 KOs). His opponent is still a mystery, but expect fireworks when it’s revealed.

Middleweight contender Austin Williams (15-0 10 KOs), who’s currently perched at #3 in the WBA rankings, is squaring off against Connor Coyle (20-0 9 KOs), the Irish powerhouse sitting at #6. They’re battling for the WBA International and IBF North American titles. Both are unbeaten and hungry for more glory. Williams last made noise in Orlando, while Coyle is fresh off a fifth-round KO win over Joey Bryant in Mississippi.
