BOSTON, MA – The Boston Red Sox have announced the addition of nine non-roster invitees to their 2025 Spring Training roster. The players include: shortstop Marcelo Mayer, outfielder Roman Anthony, infielder/outfielders Kristian Campbell and Abraham Toro, catchers Nathan Hickey and Mark Kolozsvary, and pitchers Jovani Morán, Brian Van Belle, and Jacob Webb.

Marcelo Mayer, SS – Mayer, 22, will be attending his first Major League Spring Training camp. Ranked as the Red Sox’s No. 3 prospect and a top 15 overall prospect by MLB.com (No. 12) and Baseball America (No. 15), Mayer batted .307 with 60 runs, 28 doubles, eight home runs, and 38 RBIs in 77 games for Double-A Portland in 2024. He earned Eastern League All-Star honors and was selected for the 2024 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game. Drafted by Boston in the first round (No. 4 overall) of the 2021 First-Year Player Draft, Mayer has a career minor league batting average of .274 with an .827 OPS in 272 games.
Roman Anthony, OF – Anthony, 20, will also attend his first Major League Spring Training camp. Ranked as baseball’s No. 2 overall prospect by both Baseball America and MLB.com, Anthony was named Double-A Portland’s team MVP in 2024, leading the Sea Dogs in home runs (15), slugging percentage (.489), OPS (.856), and several other categories. He also played in 35 games for Triple-A Worcester, batting .344 with a .463 on-base percentage and .982 OPS. Drafted in the second round of the 2022 First-Year Player Draft, Anthony has a career minor league batting average of .284 with an .871 OPS.
Kristian Campbell, INF/OF – Campbell, 22, is attending his first Major League Spring Training camp. Ranked as a top 10 overall prospect by Baseball America (No. 4) and MLB.com (No. 7), Campbell batted .330 with 20 home runs and 77 RBIs across three minor league levels in 2024. He earned several accolades including Baseball America’s Minor League Player of the Year and Double-A Eastern League MVP. Selected in the fourth round of the 2023 First-Year Player Draft, Campbell has shown versatility, making starts at various positions.
Abraham Toro, INF/OF – Toro, 28, played 94 games for the Athletics in 2024, batting .240 with 17 doubles and six home runs. The switch hitter has played 365 Major League games with the Astros, Mariners, Brewers, and Athletics. Originally selected by the Astros in the fifth round of the 2016 First-Year Player Draft, Toro has a career minor league batting average of .278 with an .835 OPS.
Nathan Hickey, C – Hickey, 24, will attend his second consecutive Major League Spring Training camp. In 2024, he batted .209 with 25 doubles, 13 home runs, and 63 RBIs across Double-A Portland and Triple-A Worcester. Selected in the fifth round of the 2021 First-Year Player Draft, Hickey has a career minor league batting average of .242 with 48 home runs.
Mark Kolozsvary, C – Kolozsvary, 29, played 27 games for Triple-A Worcester in 2024. He has played 11 Major League games with the Reds and Orioles. A reliable catcher, Kolozsvary has thrown out 29.3% of base stealers in his minor league career. Drafted in the seventh round of the 2017 First-Year Player Draft, he has a career minor league batting average of .209.
Jovani Morán, LHP – Morán, 33, missed the 2024 season recovering from Tommy John surgery. He has pitched in 79 Major League games for the Twins, posting a 4.15 ERA. Acquired by Boston in December 2024, Morán has a career minor league ERA of 2.90.
Brian Van Belle, RHP – Van Belle, 28, will attend his first Major League Spring Training camp. In 2024, he went 8-2 with a 4.42 ERA for Triple-A Worcester. Van Belle, a non-drafted free agent signing by the Red Sox in June 2020, has a career minor league ERA of 4.65.
Jacob Webb, RHP – Webb, 25, will also attend his first Major League Spring Training camp. In 2024, he pitched in 41 games, going 10-3 with a 4.95 ERA. Selected in the 14th round of the 2021 First-Year Player Draft, Webb has a career minor league ERA of 4.26.
