Las Vegas, NV – The Atlanta Vibe (1-1) secured their first win of the season by defeating the Vegas Thrill (1-1) in a three-set match on Sunday evening at Lee’s Family Forum.
Atlanta hit .262 in the sweep, with standout performances from Middle Blocker Khori Louis, who finished with 9 kills on 11 attempts, and Opposite Hitter Merritt Beason, who recorded 14 kills with a .286 hitting percentage.
The Vibe’s defensive efforts were strong, totaling 53 blocks as a team. Three players reached double digits in digs: Outside Hitter Leah Edmond tallied 11 digs, Libero Morgan Hentz had 10 digs, and Outside Hitter Pia Timmer also grabbed 10 digs.
Middle Blocker McKenna Vicini returned to face her former team, contributing one block in the match.
In the serve and pass game, the Vibe dominated with nine aces compared to the Thrill’s one. Leah Edmond led the team with five aces, including several back-to-back in the second set. Setter Marlie Monserez dished out 36 assists, just shy of her record in a three-set match last season.
Atlanta concludes their season-opening road trip with a 1-1 record. Their next match is on Thursday, January 16th at Gas South Arena, marking their home opener of the season. The first serve is set for 7 p.m. ET.
