ATLANTA, Ga. – The Atlanta Vibe (6-5) triumphed over the Indy Ignite (5-5) in a thrilling five-set match Sunday evening at Gas South Arena. This victory marks the first-ever matchup between the teams in league history, ending with a win for the Vibe.
Atlanta demonstrated impressive form, hitting .291 throughout the match and setting records for several players. Outside hitter Pia Timmer achieved a career-high hitting efficiency, averaging .378. Meanwhile, outside hitter Leah Edmond tallied 25 kills, her highest in a single match this season.
Other notable offensive contributions came from opposite hitter Merritt Beason with 13 kills and middle blocker Taya Beller with eight kills. The Vibe also showcased strong defensive efforts, amassing 78 digs and 13 blocks as a team. Five Vibe players reached double digits in digs for the match. Middle blocker Khori Louis and Beason each recorded four blocks, fortifying the front row defense.
In the serve and pass game, the Vibe excelled by delivering six aces compared to the Ignite’s three. The team achieved 30% perfect passes, enabling the front row to execute their offensive plays efficiently.
Setter Marlie Monserez orchestrated the attack with 60 assists, her highest total in a single match.
Next, the Vibe will face off against the Ignite on their opponent’s home court on Thursday, February 20th, with the first serve at 7 p.m. ET at the Fishers Event Center. Following that, the Vibe will remain in Indianapolis for the inaugural PVF All-Star match on Saturday, February 22nd.
