Houston acquires minor league pitcher Luis Rodriguez from Chicago (AL)
HOUSTON, TX – The Houston Astros have acquired minor league RHP Luis Rodriguez from the Chicago White Sox in exchange for OF Corey Julks. The announcement was made by Astros General Manager Dana Brown.
Rodriguez, 20, has appeared in 17 career games between the Arizona Complex League and the Dominican Summer League in the White Sox organization. In those 17 appearances between the 2023 and 2024 seasons, he’s recorded a 3.93 ERA (16ER/36.2IP) with 49 strikeouts and a 1.23 WHIP.
Julks, 28, made his Major League debut with the Astros in 2023. The Houston native batted .245 (73×298) with 35 runs, 14 doubles, six home runs, 33 RBI and a .649 OPS in 93 games last season with the Astros. Julks has spent the entire 2024 season with Triple A Sugar Land, batting .266 (33×124) with 26 runs, seven doubles, five home runs, 15 RBI and a .802 OPS in 31 games. Julks was designated for assignment on Friday, May 10.
