A’s recall RHP Adam Oller from Las Vegas, option LHP Jared Koenig to Las Vegas

OAKLAND, Calif. — The Oakland Athletics recalled right-handed pitcher Adam Oller from Triple-A Las Vegas and optioned left-handed pitcher Jared Koenig to Las Vegas, the club announced today. 

Oller joins the A’s for his fourth stint with the Major League team. He began the season on the A’s Opening Day roster and was 0-2 with a 11.17 ERA in three starts when he was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas on May 1. The 27-year-old right-hander was recalled as the 27th man for the A’s doubleheader against the Angels on May 14 and started the night game, allowing eight runs in 5.0 innings and taking the loss. He was recalled for his third stint on June 9 and allowed four runs over 8.1 innings in five relief outings before being optioned to Las Vegas on June 30. Overall, he is 0-3 with a 9.00 ERA in nine outings with Oakland, including four starts. 

Koenig was recalled on June 12 and made his fifth start of the season yesterday, allowing five runs on six hits and two walks while striking out three batters in a career-high 7.0 innings. He was selected from Las Vegas on June 8 and made four starts for the A’s in his Major League debut, going 1-2 with a 6.38 ERA before being optioned to Las Vegas on June 26. He is 4-3 with a 3.38 ERA in 11 games, 10 starts, with Las Vegas, including 0-1 with a 9.00 ERA, seven strikeouts and two walks in two starts since being optioned. Overall, he is 11-8 with a 3.30 ERA in 35 games, including 31 starts, in two seasons in the minors with Oakland.
