All-Star second baseman sustained right thumb fracture playing in the WBC
HOUSTON, TX – Astros second baseman Jose Altuve underwent surgery on his right thumb today in Houston, General Manager Dana Brown announced.
Altuve sustained a fracture to his right thumb after being hit by a pitch on Saturday (Mar. 18) night while playing for Venezuela in the World Baseball Classic.
Altuve will remain in Houston since Spring Training is in its final week. The Astros ballclub is set to fly to Houston following their final Florida Spring Training game on Sunday in West Palm Beach.
