2023 All‑Star owns a career 3.38 ERA and 75 saves across four MLB seasons

Arlington, Texas — The Texas Rangers announced tonight that they have signed right‑handed reliever Alexis Díaz to a one‑year Major League contract for the 2026 season.

Díaz, 29, spent 2025 with the Cincinnati, Los Angeles‑NL, and Atlanta organizations. He appeared in 18 Major League games, going 1–0 with an 8.15 ERA (16 ER/17.2 IP), 12 walks, and 17 strikeouts, while also making 27 Triple‑A appearances. Cincinnati traded him to the Dodgers on May 29 in exchange for right‑hander Mike Villani, and the Braves later claimed him off waivers on September 7. Despite the uneven results, Díaz held big‑league hitters to a .221 average (15-for-68) in 2025.

Across four MLB seasons (2022–25) with Cincinnati, Los Angeles‑NL, and Atlanta, Díaz has compiled a 19–14 record, 75 saves, a 3.38 ERA (77 ER/205.0 IP), 1.18 WHIP, and 241 strikeouts in 208 relief appearances. Among relievers with at least 200 games pitched since 2022, he ranks 5th in opponent batting average (.179) and 7th in opponent slugging percentage (.304).

Díaz earned National League All‑Star honors in 2023, finishing that season with 37 saves, fourth‑most in MLB. From 2022–24, he finished 121 games, the 10th‑highest total in the Majors during that span.

Originally drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 12th round of the 2015 MLB Draft out of Juan Jose Maunez High School in Puerto Rico, Díaz spent parts of five seasons in the minors before debuting on April 8, 2022, in Atlanta. He is the younger brother of three‑time All‑Star closer Edwin Díaz.
