  • Total Handle: Virginians wagered $510.2 million between August 1–31, a 22.4% increase compared to August 2024.

  • Player Winnings: Bettors collected $447.3 million, resulting in a 12.33% operators’ win percentage.

Tax and Regulatory Framework

Under Virginia law, sports betting activity is subject to a 15% tax on each permit holder’s adjusted gross revenue (AGR). AGR is defined as total wagers minus player winnings and other allowable deductions.
