NEW YORK – The New York Sirens announced today that Kristýna Kaltounková, the first overall selection in the 2025 Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) Draft, has signed a three-year Standard Player Agreement with the club through the 2027‑28 season.

The 23‑year‑old forward from Vlašim, Czechia, becomes the highest‑drafted international player in PWHL history. She joins the league following a record‑setting career at Colgate University, where she tallied 233 points (111 goals, 122 assists) in 171 games, finishing second all‑time in program scoring.

“Speed, physicality, compete, passion — Kalty brings it all,” said Sirens General Manager Pascal Daoust. “She’s fearless enough to block any shot, but it takes real courage to try and block hers — it’s a true weapon. We’re proud to welcome our 2025 first overall pick to the Sirens family on a three‑year commitment. She’s an elite player and outstanding teammate whose talent and drive will raise our standard of excellence and thrill our fans.”

Collegiate and International Success

In her final NCAA season (2024‑25), Kaltounková posted 48 points in 37 games, ranking among the nation’s top goal scorers with 26. She earned First Team ECAC and Second Team All‑American honors and became the first Czech player ever named a finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award.

On the international stage, she debuted for Czechia’s National Team at the 2025 IIHF Women’s World Championship, tying for the team lead with six points (4G, 2A) in seven games and earning Tournament All‑Star honors. At the U18 level, she represented her country four times from 2017–20, recording 19 points in 20 games — the highest total ever by a Czech player.

Player Statement

“I am incredibly proud to sign a three‑year agreement with the Sirens,” said Kaltounková. “I cannot wait to get to work with my new teammates, coaches, and support staff. Most of all, I’m excited to play in front of our great fans. Alicia Keys said it best — New York is where dreams are made of. I can’t wait to live mine out as a member of the Sirens. Weewooo!”

Building the 2025‑26 Roster

Standing 5’9”, Kaltounková is the first member of New York’s 2025 draft class to sign ahead of the upcoming season. She joins a forward group that already includes 2024 first overall pick Sarah Fillier, along with Emmy Fecteau, Taylor Girard, Elle Hartje, Paetyn Levis, Savannah Norcross, Kristin O’Neill, and Kayla Vespa.
