The UK Gambling Commission has imposed a £184,500 financial penalty on Tombola (International) PLC following an investigation — conducted outside of a licence review — into a key event submission by the operator.
The Commission determined that Tombola breached the following Social Responsibility Code Provisions (SRCP):
- SRCP 5.1.11 – Direct electronic consent
- SRCP 3.5.3 – Self-exclusion, Paragraph 2 – Remote SR Code
- SRCP 3.5.3 – Self-exclusion, Paragraph 6 – Remote SR Code
Under section 82(1) of the Gambling Act 2005, failure to comply with an SRCP constitutes a breach of a licence condition.
In accordance with its Licensing, Compliance and Enforcement Policy Statement and Statement of Principles for Determining Financial Penalties, the Commission has levied the penalty under section 121(1) of the Act.
Officials noted that the failings were isolated and did not compromise the operator’s overall control framework. They also acknowledged Tombola’s immediate remedial actions and full cooperation throughout the investigation.
